Job Summary
The Human Resources Officer will support Jhpiego’s HR strategic priorities and provide day-to-day HR services. The role covers recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, HR administration, staff welfare, HR systems, and compliance with Tanzanian labour laws and Jhpiego policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment activities including requisitions, advertising, screening, interviews, selection, and reference checks.
- Coordinate orientation and onboarding of newly recruited employees.
- Monitor staff benefits administration.
- Maintain accurate, complete, confidential employee records.
- Monitor performance-management processes.
- Administer HR policies and support grievance and disciplinary processes.
- Support staff welfare programs, retreats, meetings, and other staff events.
- Follow up with employees and managers on HR documentation and periodic requirements.
- Oversee medical and group-life insurance administration.
- Support HR systems and online platforms, including JEMS and iCIMS.
- Manage consultant and task-agreement personnel processes in accordance with policies.
- Coordinate staff onboarding, transitions, and exits.
- Assist the HR Director with oversight of the HR office.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Human Resources Management, or
- Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources Management.
- 5–6 years of post-qualification HR management experience, preferably with a reputable NGO or development agency.
- Good knowledge of Tanzanian labour laws.
- Strong computer skills and experience with HR Information Systems.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability and willingness to work with people from different levels and cultures.
Preferred Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal and people-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Good computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
