The Opportunity
RSM Tanzania is seeking a Tax Senior to play a key role within its tax practice.
The successful candidate will help clients navigate complex tax regulations while maintaining high standards of technical excellence, compliance, and client service. The role involves working closely with partners, managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored tax solutions and manage client relationships.
The Tax Senior will also be expected to:
- Take ownership of complex tax assignments.
- Identify tax risks and planning opportunities.
- Contribute to process improvements.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Strengthen client relationships.
- Develop deeper technical tax expertise.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional qualification or ongoing studies toward CPA, ACCA, ADIT, or a related tax qualification is an added advantage.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in tax compliance, tax advisory, or tax consulting.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws and regulations, including:
- Corporate Income Tax
- VAT
- Withholding Tax
- PAYE
- Other statutory obligations
- Experience preparing and reviewing tax computations, tax returns, and supporting schedules.
- Practical experience handling:
- TRA audits
- Tax assessments
- Tax objections
- Tax disputes and related compliance matters
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret tax legislation and communicate technical matters clearly.
- Good report-writing, presentation, and client-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments within agreed deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to supervise junior team members, review their work, and provide practical guidance.
- High levels of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities
The Tax Senior will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a minimum annual productivity target of 75%.
- Delivering assigned engagements within budgeted timelines.
- Providing timely progress updates to the Tax Senior or Manager, as applicable.
- Preparing high-quality and well-documented workpapers in accordance with firm standards.
- Addressing and clearing review notes within agreed timelines.
- Identifying, communicating, and escalating engagement risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Participating in continuous professional development, technical training, and CPD activities.
- Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients.
- Providing effective communication and exceptional client service.
