Job Title: Site Manager – Stone Crushing Plant

Role Purpose

People Project Co. Limited is recruiting on behalf of a client for an experienced Site Manager – Stone Crushing Plant to oversee the day-to-day operations of a stone crushing and screening facility in Msata, Tanzania.
This hands-on, site-based leadership position involves ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations, meeting production targets, supervising site personnel, coordinating preventive equipment maintenance, and maintaining full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plant & Production Operations
  • Oversee daily crushing, screening, and aggregate production activities.
  • Ensure production targets, quality standards, and operational schedules are consistently met.
  • Monitor equipment performance including jaw crushers, cone/impact crushers, vibrating screens, and belt conveyors.
  • Coordinate daily plant start-up, shutdown, and operating workflows while resolving operational bottlenecks.
Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for all plant machinery.
  • Collaborate with mechanics, electricians, and operators to rapidly diagnose and fix equipment breakdowns.
  • Minimize operational downtime and monitor consumption rates for fuel, lubricants, and spare parts.
Team & Personnel Management
  • Supervise an on-site workforce of 20–30 employees, including operators, mechanics, electricians, and general labourers.
  • Manage shift rosters, daily work assignments, attendance, leave, and workplace discipline.
  • Coordinate basic recruitment needs with management/HR and foster team accountability.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Enforce site-wide health, safety, and environmental (HSSE) procedures, including proper PPE usage.
  • Monitor dust suppression systems, quarry slope stability, and heavy machinery operations.
  • Conduct safety briefings/toolbox talks and manage incident reporting.
  • Ensure full alignment with mining, occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Stock, Loading & Reporting
  • Track finished aggregate stock levels (e.g., 05, 12, and 13 stone sizes) and manage loading/dispatch with sales teams.
  • Prepare and submit daily production, downtime, and fuel/power consumption reports to the Plant Director.
  • Recommend proactive measures for cost control, efficiency, and operational improvements.
Community & Stakeholder Relations
  • Serve as the primary local contact for routine community matters affecting site operations.
  • Maintain positive community relationships and assist management during official/regulatory inspections.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Languages:
  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plant Operations, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Languages: Fluency in both English and Swahili is essential.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with hands-on exposure to quarrying, mining, aggregates, or crushing plant operations.
  • Proven background in roles such as Site Manager, Quarry Manager, Plant Manager, or Crushing Plant Supervisor.
  • Practical operational knowledge of jaw crushers, cone/impact crushers, vibrating screens, and belt conveyors.
  • Demonstrated experience in workforce supervision (managing rosters, shifts, and basic disciplinary matters).
  • Experience working on a remote or live-in industrial site is an added advantage.
