About the Opportunity

The Southern African Development Community Secretariat has announced new regional employment opportunities for qualified, competent, and experienced Tanzanian professionals.

As a key institution promoting regional integration, economic development, food security, agriculture, governance, and socio-economic advancement across Southern Africa, the SADC Secretariat offers professionals an opportunity to contribute directly to regional development initiatives.

This recruitment exercise is being coordinated through the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance.


Available Positions

1. Senior Programme Officer – Food Security & Agriculture

Position Details

  • Employer: Southern African Development Community
  • Position Title: Senior Programme Officer – Food Security & Agriculture
  • Job Grade: 4
  • Duty Station: SADC Secretariat
  • Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract

Contract Duration

  • Four (4) years
  • Renewable twice for an equal period, subject to:
    • Successful completion of a six-month probation period
    • Satisfactory performance
    • Continued organizational need
    • Attainment of the mandatory retirement age of 60 years

Remuneration

  • Job Grade 4 Salary Scale:
    • US$ 93,097.00 – US$ 99,643.00 per annum

2. Programme Officer – Crop

Position Details

  • Employer: Southern African Development Community
  • Position Title: Programme Officer – Crop
  • Job Grade: 6
  • Duty Station: SADC Secretariat
  • Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract

Contract Duration

  • Four (4) years
  • Renewable twice for an equal period, subject to:
    • Successful completion of a six-month probation period
    • Satisfactory performance
    • Continued organizational need
    • Attainment of the mandatory retirement age of 60 years

Remuneration

  • Job Grade 6 Salary Scale:
    • US$ 72,589.00 – US$ 77,084.20 per annum

Eligibility Requirements

Age Limit

Applicants must be:

  • 52 years old or younger

This requirement is intended to ensure that successful candidates can serve the organization for a reasonable period before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
