About Secondary Education for Girls Advancement (SEGA)

Secondary Education for Girls Advancement (SEGA) is a non-profit organization based in the Mkundi area of Morogoro Municipality. The organization focuses on educating and equipping bright Tanzanian girls, particularly vulnerable girls, with academic, leadership, and business skills.

SEGA operates several programs, including:

  • SEGA Girls’ Secondary School
  • Post Form Four Scholarship Program
  • Msichana wa Kisasa Community Outreach Program

SEGA Girls’ Secondary School currently has two teaching vacancies.


1. Kiswahili and Literature in English Teacher

Number of Posts: 1
Location: Mkundi, Morogoro Municipality
Start Date: Immediately

Job Summary

The teacher will provide high-quality and participatory learning opportunities while helping students develop academic competencies, practical skills, confidence, leadership abilities, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Lesson Preparation & Materials Development – 30%

  • Develop creative and participatory learning opportunities in line with the Tanzanian national curriculum and SEGA’s vision and values.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
  • Adapt teaching materials to different learning styles.
  • Use technology, videos, group discussions, and practical activities to enhance learning.

Teaching – 40%

  • Teach assigned classes according to the timetable.
  • Assess students regularly.
  • Prepare, administer, and mark tests and examinations.
  • Provide additional support to students who need assistance.
  • Provide advanced learning materials for high-performing students.

Individual Student Development – 10%

  • Help students establish academic, social, and career goals.
  • Assist students in developing action plans.
  • Manage student behaviour and maintain a safe and supportive environment.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate relevant concerns to the Headmistress.

Sports, Clubs & Extracurricular Activities – 20%

  • Support essay competitions, subject clubs, debates, and other activities.
  • Take initiative in developing and organizing extracurricular programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, with Kiswahili and Literature in English as teaching subjects.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken Swahili and English.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email communication.
  • Willingness to live and work in Morogoro and commute to the school daily.

2. Geography and Computer Science Teacher

Number of Posts: 1
Location: Mkundi, Morogoro Municipality
Start Date: Immediately

Job Summary

The teacher will provide high-quality, participatory education while supporting students’ academic, personal, leadership, and practical development.

Key Responsibilities

Lesson Preparation & Materials Development – 30%

  • Develop creative and participatory learning opportunities in line with the national curriculum.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
  • Cater to different learning styles through appropriate teaching resources.
  • Incorporate IT, videos, group discussions, and hands-on activities into teaching.

Teaching – 40%

  • Teach assigned classes according to the timetable.
  • Conduct regular student assessments.
  • Prepare and mark tests and examinations.
  • Provide additional support to struggling students.
  • Provide advanced materials for fast learners.

Individual Student Development – 10%

  • Support students in setting academic, social, and career goals.
  • Help students develop action plans.
  • Manage student behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and report significant issues to the Headmistress.

Sports, Clubs & Extracurricular Activities – 20%

  • Participate in essay competitions, subject clubs, debates, and other extracurricular activities.
  • Help develop and organize student activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, with Geography and Computer Science as teaching subjects.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken Swahili and English.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email communication.
  • Willingness to live and work in Morogoro and commute to the school daily.

Additional Requirements for Both Positions
