Mkulazi Holding Company Limited (MHCL) is a joint venture company owned by National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and Tanzania Prisons Service.

The company is engaged in the production of quality sugar and related downstream products including:

  • Bio-ethanol
  • Particle boards
  • Pulp products

MHCL is implementing a sugar production project at Mbigiri Estate, located in Kilosa District, Morogoro Region, with a target production capacity of 50,000 metric tons of sugar per annum once fully operational.

1. Mechanical Technician – Mills (1 Post)

Reporting To

Senior Mechanical Technician – Mills

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mills, conveyors, gearboxes, and related machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults and execute corrective maintenance.
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, cutting, grinding, and fitting works.
  • Conduct inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and equipment adjustments.
  • Assist in equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Participate in shutdown maintenance and overhauls.
  • Maintain maintenance records and reports.
  • Observe safety standards and good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience in sugar mills is preferred.

2. Senior Rigger Mill House (1 Post)

Reporting To

Mechanical Technician – Mills

Key Responsibilities

  • Align, level, and anchor machinery.
  • Select appropriate rigging equipment.
  • Assess risks associated with lifting heavy equipment.
  • Inspect transport routes and estimate safe loads.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Store and maintain rigging equipment properly.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Machining, or related field.
  • CET or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in rigging/fitter mechanics roles.
  • Sugar industry experience preferred.

3. Senior Fitter Mechanics – Mills (1 Post)

Reporting To

Mechanical Technician – Mills

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise fitting works on machinery and production equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, turbines, valves, and pipework.
  • Diagnose and solve complex mechanical faults.
  • Perform alignment and balancing of rotating equipment.
  • Mentor junior fitters and artisan helpers.
  • Support shutdowns, overhauls, and plant projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Machining, or related field.
  • CET or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in manufacturing or processing industries.

4. Mechanical Technician – Boiler (1 Post)

Reporting To

Mechanical Engineer – Boiler

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting of boilers and auxiliary systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance.
  • Perform inspections and maintenance during operational and off-crop periods.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and performance analyses.
  • Maintain compliance with operational and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Technical training in steam generation preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in boiler operations and maintenance.
  • Sugar industry experience preferred.

5. Fitter Mechanics – Boiler (2 Posts)

Reporting To

Senior Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain boiler mechanical systems.
  • Install, align, and repair pumps, fans, turbines, conveyors, valves, and gearboxes.
  • Participate in shutdowns and major repairs.
  • Maintain records and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Support troubleshooting activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate in Fitter Mechanics Level III or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, boiler, or power generation environments.

6. Senior Instrumentation Artisan (3 Posts)

Reporting To

Senior Instrumentation Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain field instruments.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot control systems.
  • Maintain PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Support commissioning and shutdown activities.
  • Maintain calibration and repair records.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Level III Certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Sugar processing or power generation experience is an advantage.

7. Instrumentation Artisan (1 Post)

Reporting To

Senior Instrumentation Technician

Qualifications & Experience

  • Level II or III Certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Sugar processing or power generation experience is an added advantage.

8. Electrical Technician (1 Post)

Reporting To

Electrical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment.
  • Support power generation operations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults.
  • Perform installations and commissioning.
  • Prepare maintenance reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation.
  • Professional registration is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical maintenance or power generation.

9. Machinist (1 Post)

Reporting To

Machining and Fabrication Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate lathe, milling, drilling, and shaping machines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings.
  • Prepare spare parts and machining tools.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance.
  • Maintain workshop records.

  • NTA Level III in Welding and Fabrication or equivalent.

Main Duties

  • Fabrication, welding, assembly, and inspection of metal structures.
  • Reading technical drawings.

  • Diploma in Water Quality, Laboratory Technology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field.

Main Duties

  • Water sampling and testing.
  • Chemical dosing monitoring.
  • Plant performance monitoring.
  • Compliance with safety and environmental standards.

13. Laboratory Analyst (3 Posts)

14. Operator Vacuum Filter (2 Posts)

Reporting To

Supervisor – Juice Clarification and Evaporation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Form IV Certificate or NTA Level II.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in vacuum filter operations.

Main Duties

  • Vacuum filter operation.
  • Mud scraping and conveyor cleaning.
  • Lime preparation.
  • Housekeeping and safety compliance.

15. Senior Pan Boiler (3 Posts)

Reporting To

Manufacturing Chemist

Qualifications & Experience

  • Form IV Certificate or above.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in sugar pan boiling operations.
  • NSI Certificate is an added advantage.

Main Duties

  • Supervise pan boiling operations.
  • Control crystallization processes.
  • Monitor sugar quality parameters.
  • Mentor junior staff.

16. Pan Boiler (4 Posts)

Reporting To

Senior Pan Boiler

Qualifications & Experience

  • Form IV Certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in sugar boiling or crystallization operations.
  • NSI Certificate is an added advantage.

17. Senior Raw Sugar Centrifugal Operator (3 Posts)

Reporting To

Manufacturing Chemist

Qualifications & Experience

  • Form IV Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Batch Centrifugal Machine operations.
  • NSI Certificate is an added advantage.

18. DCS Operator – Evaporator (1 Post)

Reporting To

Supervisor – Juice Clarification and Evaporation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Form IV Certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in processing plant operations.
  • Sugar industry experience preferred.
  • NSI Certificate is an added advantage.

19. Continuous Improvement Officer (3 Posts)

Reporting To

Maintenance Planner

Qualifications & Experience

  • Form IV Certificate or NTA Level I.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in continuous improvement programs.

Main Duties

  • Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Analyze production data.
  • Improve operational efficiency.
  • Train staff on continuous improvement tools.

20. Technician Preventive Maintenance (1 Post)

Reporting To

Planning Engineer

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in maintenance planning.
  • Experience with SAP PM, CMMS, ERP, and MS Office.

21. Technician Draughtsman (1 Post)

Reporting To

Project Engineer

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in CAD design.

Main Duties

  • Prepare 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
  • Support engineering and production teams.
  • Manage design revisions and documentation.

22. Mechanical Engineer (1 Post)

Reporting To

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Professional registration is an added advantage.
  • Certification in Maintenance Management is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing or sugar production.

Main Duties

  • Lead mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Manage boilers, mills, pumps, and workshop operations.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Supervise shutdowns and overhauls.
  • Prepare maintenance budgets and reports.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
