Job Purpose

Fides Tanzania Ltd is looking for a skilled and reliable Agro-Mechanic to ensure the availability, safety, and efficient operation of agricultural machinery and equipment through effective preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of agricultural machinery, equipment, and implements.
• Inspect, service, and repair tractors, farm machinery, sprayers, trailers, pumps, and other agricultural equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out appropriate repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify potential mechanical problems before breakdowns occur.
• Maintain and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, mechanical systems, and basic electrical systems.
• Ensure agricultural machinery is serviced and maintained according to manufacturer recommendations and company maintenance schedules.
• Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and technical emergencies in the field.
• Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs, breakdowns, spare parts, and other maintenance activities.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and spare parts are properly used and maintained.
• Work closely with farm and production teams to ensure machinery is available when required.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and maintenance requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop and work environment.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agro-Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in agricultural machinery, horticulture, or farm operations.
• Practical experience in machinery maintenance, fault diagnosis, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
• Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and preventive maintenance.
