Position Purpose

The Boiler Maker is responsible for the manufacturing, fabrication and repair of metal structures and objects as guided by the immediate supervisor and trainer.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Comply with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions, including the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment.
• Promptly report hazardous situations that cannot be corrected personally, take necessary steps to eliminate or control hazards, and immediately report any accident or injury arising during work.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures that are displayed and amended from time to time.
• Take reasonable care of personal safety and the safety of other persons who may be affected by work activities.
• Perform pre-start checks and SWICs.
• Ensure inspections and maintenance are carried out on all equipment before use.
• Work to minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
• Carry out welding repairs on machinery, buckets and frames.
• Build structural items for workshop and mining operations, including doors, lock-up areas, stands and brackets.
• Operate equipment and tools including Air Arc, Oxy Acetylene, grinders, drills and related equipment.
• Design structural items as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Good welding skills, including Arc and MIG welding.
• At least 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience.
• Good knowledge of cutting, design and finishing techniques in metal fabrication.
• Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
• Willingness to learn, improve welding skills and gain further experience.
• Basic First Aid.
• Ability to drive a manual vehicle with a valid Tanzanian Driver’s Licence.
• Completed secondary education.
• Post-trade skills.
• Basic numeracy and verbal/written English.
