The Barrick North Mara Team is seeking to recruit a Cable Bolter Trainer to join and grow its team.

Responsibilities

• Train local employees to high levels of Cable Bolter operation.
• Contribute to the company’s safety culture and journey to zero harm by adhering to all health and safety standards, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
• Drill ground support holes, install cable, and grout them according to mine ground support specifications.
• Avoid over-drilling and under-drilling and work in accordance with standards, plans, layouts, and geotechnical plans.
• Follow mark-ups in accordance with geological, statutory, and survey specifications.
• Work with technical and supervisory staff on all quality and safety initiatives.
• Ensure end-of-shift reports are kept up to date.
• Perform visual inspections of equipment before and during operation according to procedures to minimize breakdowns and operational losses by promptly reporting defects and abnormalities to the Supervisor.
• Operate equipment according to relevant mining requirements and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to achieve daily bolting targets.
• Conduct efficient housekeeping of equipment and work areas.

Qualification Requirements

• Tertiary education or ordinary secondary education.
• Valid driving licence.
• A Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering will be an added advantage.

Experience and Competencies

• Minimum of 3–5 years of practical experience operating a Cable Bolter in an underground mining environment.
• Knowledge and skills in underground drilling.
• Previous experience operating Sandvik or Atlas Copco Cable Bolters will be an advantage.
• Ability to read and understand cable bolt layouts.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of ground support standards.
• Sound knowledge and experience of underground mining practices and operations.
• Knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and standards applicable to underground mining.
