AUMSGTL is currently seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions:
1. Maintenance Fitter
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position Purpose
The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for diagnostic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, breakdown repairs and servicing of heavy mining equipment as guided by the immediate supervisor and trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions, including the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment.
- Promptly report hazardous situations that cannot be corrected personally and report any accident or injury arising during work.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures as displayed and amended from time to time.
- Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of other persons who may be affected by work activities.
- Perform pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensure inspections and maintenance are carried out on all equipment before use.
- Ensure all tools are serviceable and safe.
- Work to minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
- Liaise with the Underground Shift Supervisor to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Advise when equipment is out of service and when it can be returned to service.
- Carry out scheduled servicing of mobile equipment safely and in accordance with service sheets.
- Utilise skills and experience to minimise machinery downtime.
- Ensure maintenance activities are correctly recorded.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in workshops and working areas.
- Ensure parts are maintained at minimum stock levels.
- Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals.
- Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Supervisor/Foreman for scheduling into the workshop.
- Ensure site and maintenance procedures are maintained.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within the underground mining industry is essential.
- Strong background working with underground mobile mining equipment, including Caterpillar, Normet, Sandvik, Mercedes, Toyota, RCT and Volvo.
- At least 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience.
- High degree of skill in troubleshooting mining equipment problems.
- Good knowledge of loader and truck maintenance.
- Competence in auto electrics, hydraulic circuits and diesel engine maintenance.
- Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
- Willingness to learn, improve skills and gain further experience on mobile equipment.
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle with a valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Relevant trade qualification.
- Completion of secondary school.
- Basic numeracy and verbal/written English.
2. LV Fitter
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position Purpose
The LV Fitter is responsible for diagnostic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, breakdown repairs and servicing of light vehicle equipment as guided by the immediate supervisor and trainer.
Key Accountabilities
- Comply with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions, including the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment.
- Promptly report hazardous situations that cannot be corrected personally and report any accident or injury arising during work.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures as displayed and amended from time to time.
- Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of other persons who may be affected by work activities.
- Perform pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensure inspections and maintenance are carried out on all equipment before use.

- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle with a valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
- Completed secondary school.

3. Auto Electrician
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position Purpose
The Auto Electrician is responsible for preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance on underground mobile equipment and vehicles, including light vehicles and heavy mobile equipment, drills, and electrical fault and failure diagnostics as guided by the immediate supervisor and trainer.

- Comply with all company policies and procedures as displayed and amended from time to time.

- Previous experience with vehicle air-conditioning systems.
- Ability to analyse equipment failure and use equipment diagnostic tools.
- Auto electrical experience on 4WD vehicles.
- Heavy equipment electrical experience.
- Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
- Willingness to learn and gain further experience on mobile equipment.
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle with a valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
4. Boiler Maker
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position Purpose
The Boiler Maker is responsible for manufacturing, fabrication and repair of metal structures and objects as guided by the immediate supervisor and trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions, including the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment.
- Promptly report hazardous situations that cannot be corrected personally and report any accident or injury arising during work.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures as displayed and amended from time to time.
- Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of other persons who may be affected by work activities.
- Perform pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensure inspections and maintenance are carried out on all equipment before use.
- Work to minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
- Weld repairs to machinery, buckets and frames.
- Build structural items for workshops and mining operations, including doors, lock-up areas, stands and brackets.
- Use Air Arc, Oxy Acetylene, grinders, drills and other relevant equipment.
- Design structural items.
Minimum Requirements
- Good welding skills, including Arc and MIG.
- At least 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience.
- Good knowledge of cutting, design and finishing skills in metal fabrication.
- Excellent service and maintenance approach to the job.
- Willingness to learn and gain further experience in welding.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle with a valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
- Completed secondary school.
- Post-trade skills.
- Basic numeracy and verbal/written English.
5. Workshop Cleaner
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
Position Purpose
The Workshop Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised workshop and maintenance working environment. The role provides housekeeping and cleaning support to the maintenance team while ensuring compliance with site HS&E requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with all HS&E policies, procedures and instructions, including the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping standards within the workshop, maintenance areas and designated working areas.
- Clean workshop floors, service bays, tools, equipment and surrounding areas as required.
- Collect, segregate and dispose of workshop waste in accordance with site procedures.
- Clean and respond to minor oil, grease and other workshop spills using approved materials and procedures.
- Keep walkways, access areas and emergency exits clear of obstructions.
- Use cleaning tools, equipment and chemicals safely and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
- Report hazards, spills, unsafe conditions and other workplace concerns to the immediate supervisor.
- Support maintenance personnel with general housekeeping activities before, during and after maintenance work.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and housekeeping at all times.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures and instructions.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in mining or heavy industry is preferable.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Completion of secondary education.
- Basic numeracy and verbal/written English.
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle with a valid Tanzanian Driver’s License.
- General light maintenance skills.
