Position Overview

The Chief Manager – Public Sector and Institutions is responsible for driving business growth within:

  • Public Sector (Central Government, LGAs, Government Institutions)
  • Institutional Banking (NGOs, NBFIs, universities, diplomatic missions, healthcare institutions)

The role focuses on managing high-value client portfolios, strengthening relationships, increasing deposits, and maximizing revenue through strategic banking solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Portfolio Growth

  • Acquire new public sector and institutional clients
  • Develop and manage a strong pipeline of prospective clients
  • Execute structured client engagement programs
  • Drive growth in assets and liabilities portfolio
  • Identify and implement cross-selling opportunities

Relationship Management & Service Delivery

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ensure high-quality and timely service delivery
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and address service gaps proactively

Portfolio Management & Pricing

  • Oversee portfolio performance, ensuring growth and profitability
  • Manage risks within the portfolio
  • Recommend and negotiate pricing aligned with bank policies

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and mentor Relationship Managers
  • Build a high-performance team culture
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Drive market intelligence and team development

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Work with internal teams (Digital, Treasury, Operations, Branches)
  • Align with Corporate, SME, and Retail banking segments
  • Provide insights on market trends and client needs

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain strong risk management and due diligence practices

Strategic & Operational Responsibilities

  • Participate in Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO)
  • Contribute to balance sheet and liabilities strategy
  • Perform additional duties aligned with bank objectives

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Master’s Degree in:
    • Business Administration
    • Finance
    • Banking
    • Accounting
    • Economics
    • Commerce
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in banking or financial institutions
  • Strong experience in corporate, public sector, or institutional banking
  • Proven leadership and managerial experience
