Job Summary — Director, Asset Management & Engineering

This senior leadership opportunity is with AngloGold Ashanti at Geita Gold Mining Limited.

The role reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and plays a critical strategic role in engineering leadership, asset integrity, maintenance excellence, and operational reliability across both fixed plant and mobile mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Engineering & Maintenance Leadership

• Lead maintenance operations for:
  • Open-pit equipment
  • Underground mobile equipment
  • Fixed plant assets
• Ensure high equipment reliability, availability, and safety performance
• Develop and implement maintenance and asset management strategies

Safety & Compliance

• Drive engineering safety culture and regulatory compliance
• Lead hazard identification and mitigation initiatives
• Ensure compliance with:
  • SOX controls
  • Governance standards
  • Delegation of authority requirements
  • Reporting obligations

Asset Management & Reliability

• Implement:
  • Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
  • Condition-based maintenance
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Defect elimination programs
• Monitor and improve asset performance metrics
• Lead shutdown planning and execution

Technical & Operational Excellence

• Provide technical leadership in:
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Civil and structural systems
  • Control systems
• Manage engineering documentation and OEM records
• Utilize systems such as:
  • CMMS
  • Fleet management software
  • SCADA

Financial & Capital Management

• Develop 3-year maintenance budget forecasts
• Manage engineering expenditure within approved limits
• Lead capital investment planning and business case development
• Oversee contract management and supplier relationships

Leadership & People Management

• Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams
• Promote collaboration across departments
• Support continuous improvement and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives including 5S

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• A University Degree in:
  • Electrical Engineering, OR
  • Mechanical Engineering
• OR a vocational trade qualification with extensive industry experience

Required Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

• 10–15 years of engineering/maintenance leadership experience in mining operations
• Strong background in:
  • Asset management
  • Maintenance strategy
  • Reliability engineering
  • Capital project management
  • Contract management
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams
