Job Overview

Tanza Education is hiring a District Lead to support the implementation of the MsingiTek Program in Tanzania. The role will be based in either Tunduru DC or Morogoro DC.

The District Lead will serve as a critical link between field-level execution and program-level strategy. The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of schools across an assigned district, directly manage a team of 5+ Digital Education Supervisors (DES), and ensure that every school consistently delivers at least 150 minutes of quality digital learning per week.

Role Purpose

The District Lead will be responsible for the overall performance of the assigned district by using:

The role also focuses on long-term sustainability by embedding MsingiTek practices into government schools and strengthening local education structures.

The District Lead will play a key role in institutionalizing the program at district level by:

Key Responsibilities

1. District-Level Program Oversight

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring key program KPIs such as:
    • Tablet time-on-task
    • Session completion
    • Attendance
    • Data reporting rates
  • Holding teams accountable to targets
  • Identifying underperforming schools early
  • Developing and implementing recovery plans

2. Team Leadership and Coaching

The District Lead will directly supervise 5+ Digital Education Supervisors (DES).

Key duties include:

  • Conducting regular field visits
  • Assessing school-level implementation quality
  • Providing real-time coaching
  • Leading:
    • Weekly check-ins
    • Performance reviews
    • Team learning sessions
  • Building a culture of accountability and growth

3. Data-Driven Decision Making

Responsibilities include:

  • Using dashboards and field data to identify trends
  • Prioritizing support across schools
  • Synthesizing district insights
  • Communicating findings to the Program Manager
  • Ensuring timely and accurate data collection
  • Supporting DES staff in data utilization

4. Government and Stakeholder Engagement

The District Lead will work closely with:

  • District Education Officers
  • Ward Education Officers
  • School leaders
  • Other government stakeholders

Responsibilities include:

  • Representing the program at district meetings
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships
  • Supporting the Government Engagement calendar
  • Ensuring alignment with government priorities

5. Quality Assurance and Implementation Fidelity

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting school observations
  • Performing implementation audits
  • Monitoring adherence to program standards
  • Identifying systemic gaps
  • Developing corrective interventions
  • Escalating critical issues with clear documentation

6. Capacity Building and School Ownership

The District Lead will help schools transition toward independent program ownership by:

  • Strengthening headteacher and teacher capacity
  • Promoting sustainable implementation practices
  • Monitoring school readiness
  • Encouraging long-term ownership of program delivery

7. Operational Coordination

Responsibilities include supporting logistics and coordination for:

  • Cohort launches
  • Equipment installations
  • Teacher trainings
  • Community trainings
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Resource allocation

The role also involves identifying operational blockers and ensuring field teams have the tools needed for effective implementation.


8. Reporting and Communication

The District Lead will provide structured updates to the Program Manager on:

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Community Development
    • Education
    • Social Sciences

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in:
    • Program implementation
    • Education programs

    • Field operations
  • At least 1–2 years supervising or coordinating field-based teams
