About the Role
Johari Rotana is seeking a passionate and dynamic Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead the implementation and monitoring of Environment, Health, Safety, Food Safety, Sustainability, and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems across the hotel.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with corporate standards, local regulations, and international best practices while fostering a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Health, Safety & Food Safety Management
- Develop and periodically review EHS and Food Safety manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Lead and participate in EHS, HACCP, ISO, Sustainability, and OHSMS audits.
- Establish audit programs to ensure compliance with food safety, occupational safety, and environmental regulations.
- Analyze audit findings, identify trends, and implement corrective action plans.
- Participate in incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Develop and conduct EHS and Food Safety training programs for employees.
- Monitor supplier and contractor compliance with EHS and Food Safety standards.
- Keep up to date with changes in local environmental, health, safety, and food safety regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain and control all EHSMS and Food Safety documentation.
- Support Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and sustainability programs.
- Oversee implementation of Rotana Earth sustainability programs.
- Ensure environmental protection and the safety of guests and employees.
Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) manuals and procedures.
- Lead implementation and monitoring of OHS systems across the hotel.
- Organize and facilitate OHS meetings and management reviews.
- Assist in setting EHS objectives and performance targets.
- Ensure all new employees receive relevant OHS training.
- Report OHSMS performance to senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure legal and regulatory requirements are communicated and implemented.
- Plan and conduct OHS audits and inspections.
- Develop corrective action plans following audits.
- Conduct risk assessments across all hotel departments and implement control measures.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Health & Safety
- Food Safety
- Environmental Science
- Sustainability
- Occupational Health & Safety
- Related discipline
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in:
- Environmental Health & Safety
- Food Safety Management
- Sustainability Management
- Hospitality or other high-risk operational environments
Professional Certifications (Advantage)
- NEBOSH
- IOSH
- ISO 22000
- ISO 45001
- HACCP
- Lead Auditor Certification
Technical Requirements
- Computer literacy
- Strong report-writing skills
- Good understanding of EHS legislation and compliance requirements
