Job Summary
The Assistant Accountant will provide financial and accounting support to village-level institutions receiving direct financing under the PPB Project. The role focuses on strengthening financial management, record keeping, compliance, reporting, and capacity building within local communities participating in biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihood initiatives.
This position combines accounting responsibilities with extensive fieldwork and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Administration Support
- Support financial management activities at village level.
- Guide village personnel in maintaining accurate financial records.
- Assist in recording receipts and payments correctly.
- Promote sound financial management practices.
Field Monitoring & Compliance
- Conduct regular field visits to review financial records.
- Verify supporting documents and financial transactions.
- Ensure expenditures align with approved work plans and funding guidelines.
- Identify documentation gaps and compliance issues.
Capacity Building
- Train and mentor village stakeholders on basic accounting procedures.
- Demonstrate practical bookkeeping and financial management techniques.
- Strengthen financial management capacity within community institutions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Organize and maintain financial records and filing systems.
- Review financial and technical reports submitted by villages.
- Assist in preparing quarterly and periodic financial reports.
- Maintain a centralized repository of project financial documents.
Risk Management
- Identify irregularities and potential financial risks.
- Report issues to the Landscape Accountant.
- Support implementation of corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business Administration
- Related field
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in:
- Accounting
- Financial administration
- Bookkeeping
