Barrick Gold Corporation is seeking an experienced Exploration Project/Site Lead to join its Tanzania Exploration Team and lead exploration activities focused on discovering world-class gold and copper deposits.

About the Role
The Exploration Lead will drive the planning and execution of near-mine and regional exploration programmes, from target generation through drilling, evaluation, and resource growth.
The successful candidate will lead exploration teams, manage contractors and consultants, ensure technical and safety standards, and contribute to Barrick’s discovery and growth strategy in Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning and execution of near-mine and regional exploration programmes.
- Drive target generation, geological modelling, drilling, and evaluation of exploration opportunities.
- Maintain high technical standards in:
- Geological interpretation
- Drill targeting
- Logging
- Sampling
- QA/QC
- Exploration data management
- Lead and develop the site exploration team.
- Establish clear responsibilities and promote technical excellence and high performance.
- Manage drilling contractors and consultants, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, productivity, cost, and contractual requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Journey to Zero, Global Drilling Standards, critical controls, environmental requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and operational risks.
- Support stakeholder engagement, land access, compensation, permitting, and licence compliance.
- Prepare technical, operational, safety, and financial reports for senior management.
- Provide clear recommendations to the Country Exploration Manager and AME leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geoscience from a recognised institution.
- An MSc or PhD is an added advantage.
Experience & Skills
Applicants should have:
- 10–15 years of progressive mineral exploration experience.
- Experience in orogenic gold systems, VMS, and IRGD is preferred.
- At least 3–5 years in a senior technical or project leadership position.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary exploration teams.
- Proven experience leading near-mine and regional exploration programmes from target generation through drilling and evaluation.
- Strong commitment to safety, community, and environmental responsibilities.
- Exposure to world-class exploration districts and Tier 1 ore bodies is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of mineralisation models and geological processes.
- Geological, geophysical, and geochemical interpretation and integration skills.
- Significant field-based exploration experience in Africa and/or the Middle East.
- Strong leadership and a discovery-driven mindset.
- Ability to work effectively within high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in GIS and 3D geological modelling software.
- Experience with ArcGIS, Leapfrog Geo, Micromine, or ioGAS is an advantage.
- Excellent technical and business presentation skills.
- Strong report-writing, communication, and administrative skills.
