Finance Operations Specialist at NBC Bank
Job Summary
The role focuses on:
- Ensuring all General Ledger (GL) accounts are properly reconciled and substantiated.
- Supporting compliance with the Account Ownership and Reconciliation (AOR) Policy.
- Tracking audit and reconciliation issues until closure.
- Supporting governance, finance controls, and policy compliance.
- Managing and maintaining the bank’s IFRS 16 model.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management (60%)
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare reconciliations for assigned Head Office Finance accounts.
- Ensure Trial Balances (TBs) are sent to branches on time for GL reconciliation.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation exceptions and unreconciled balances.
- Escalate unresolved or overdue issues to management.
- Maintain proper reconciliation records and reports.
- Participate in testing controls under the AOR Policy and finance policies.
- Review and maintain the IFRS 16 model and related journal postings.
- Conduct analytical reviews of allocated accounts.
- Ensure balances are correctly recorded in the Consigno system.
- Participate in finance risk forums and governance discussions.
- Monitor house accounts and recommend provisions where necessary.
Service Management (20%)
Responsibilities include:
- Reducing outstanding reconciliation exceptions.
- Supporting reconciliation process improvements.
- Reviewing reconciliations submitted by account owners.
- Monitoring attestation submissions from account owners.
- Resolving reconciliation and internal account issues.
- Participating in the Balance Sheet Review Committee.
- Recording and circulating governance meeting minutes.
Operations Risk Management (15%)
The role holder will:
- Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
- Respond promptly to customer and internal queries.
- Follow up outstanding reconciliation items with business units.
- Strengthen reconciliation controls and risk mitigation processes.
- Support implementation of corrective action plans.
Performance Management (5%)
The candidate will:
- Set and monitor individual performance objectives.
- Coordinate workflow with team members and management.
- Support reporting in the absence of the Team Leader.
- Maintain effective working relationships within the department.

Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Professional accounting qualification such as:
- CPA(T)
- ACCA
- CA
Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Finance within the banking sector
- Experience in complex and fast-changing business environments
- Stakeholder and customer relationship management experience
- Understanding of banking legislation and regulations in Tanzania
Additional Requirements
Applicants should also have:
- Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English
- Understanding of IFRS 16 and reconciliation governance
- Good analytical and reporting skills
