Project Officer Opportunity at World Vision Tanzania

The role focuses on implementing agriculture, resilience, rural development, and livelihood-related interventions while working closely with local communities, government authorities, partners, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Direct Implementation (30%)
The successful candidate will:
- Ensure quality implementation and reporting of project interventions.
- Track project targets and share updates with:
- District Project Coordinator
- DME team
- World Vision Tanzania Head Office
- Collaborate with:
- Local Government Authorities (LGAs)
- Partners
- Stakeholders
- Community allies
- Support:
- Food security improvement
- Resilience building
- Employment opportunities
- Identify and work with vulnerable households in project locations.
- Promote peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities.
- Enhance:
- Gender equality
- Protection and inclusion
- Lead day-to-day project operations.
Expected Results
- Effective implementation aligned with the Project Design Document (PDD) and Logframe.
- Inclusion of vulnerable households in project activities.
2. Project Budget and Resource Management (20%)
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting annual and multiyear budget planning.
- Ensuring compliance with:
- World Vision financial policies
- Donor requirements
- Monitoring:
- Budget utilization
- Burn rates
- Budget realignments
- Supporting:
- Internal audits
- External audits
- Facilitating collaboration with local government and other development actors.
Expected Results
- Effective implementation of activities within approved budgets and donor standards.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL) and Reporting (30%)
The role holder will:
- Collaborate with MEAL teams to adapt project theory of change.
- Support:
- Baseline surveys
- Data collection
- Impact measurement systems
- Collaborate with:
- Other World Vision projects
- WFP-linked initiatives
- Prepare timely progress reports.
- Participate in:
- Program review meetings
- Reflection sessions
- Learning workshops
- Document lessons learned and best practices.
Expected Results
- Strong monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems that improve project performance and decision-making.
4. Networking, Visibility, and Donor Recognition (15%)
Responsibilities include:
- Building strong relationships with:
- Partners
- LGAs
- Consortium members
- Stakeholders
- Ensuring donor visibility and project branding.
- Representing the project in:
- Meetings
- Workshops
- Conferences
- Learning forums
- Supporting documentation and sharing of:
- Best practices
- Challenges
- Lessons learned
- Strengthening the image of:
- The project
- World Food Programme
- World Vision Tanzania
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Applicants should have a university degree in one of the following fields:
- Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness
- Agriculture
- Rural Development
- Community Development
- Project Planning
- Related disciplines
An advanced degree is an added advantage.
Professional Experience
Candidates should have:
- At least 2 years of experience implementing:
- Agriculture projects
- Rural development projects
- Experience working with:
- INGOs
- WFP
- UN agencies (added advantage)
- Experience engaging rural communities.
- Understanding of:
- GESI-responsive programming
- Market-led approaches
- Financial management
- Livelihood programming
Required Skills
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong report-writing ability
- Community facilitation skills
- Advocacy understanding
- Strong communication skills in:
- English
- Swahili
- Ability to document and disseminate project results
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
