The North Mara Mine Engineering Services team is expanding from a single Foreman structure to a two-Foreman model to strengthen leadership capacity, improve maintenance performance, and support sustainable operational excellence.
Position Summary
Barrick is seeking a motivated, safety-focused Tanzanian national to join the HME OC Maintenance Team as Foreman – Engineering Services.
The successful candidate will supervise and coordinate maintenance activities across assigned Engineering Services sections, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of workshops, support equipment, infrastructure, and site facilities.
The specific engineering sections assigned will be determined following the recruitment process based on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
Engineering Services Scope
The role may oversee maintenance activities in one or more of the following areas:
- Workshops
- Heavy transport
- Mobile cranes
- Rigging
- Pumps
- Dewatering systems
- Water treatment plants
- Mechanical services

- Civil infrastructure
- Refrigeration systems

Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
- Promote and maintain a Zero Harm culture.
- Lead daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Conduct housekeeping inspections and safety audits.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Maintenance Supervision
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate maintenance activities across assigned Engineering Services sections.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.
SAP Maintenance Management
Ensure full compliance with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM), including:
- Maintenance notifications
- Work order creation
- Spare parts ordering
- Job history recording
- Work order closure
- Documentation and reporting
Workshop & Asset Management
- Maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and secured.
- Support preventive maintenance initiatives.
- Improve equipment reliability and availability.
Team Leadership
- Coach, mentor, and train maintenance personnel.
- Develop technical capability within local teams.
- Conduct performance management and skills development activities.
- Build a high-performing maintenance workforce.
Cost & Resource Management
- Monitor maintenance budgets and expenditure.
- Control consumables usage.

- Ensure efficient utilization of maintenance resources.
Technical Standards

- Support the Superintendent in:

Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the second Engineering Services Foreman.
- Ensure seamless maintenance coverage across all Engineering Services functions.
- Maintain consistent operational and safety standards.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by management.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Technician Certificate (FTC) in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Or a Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
Additional Requirements
- Experience in coaching and training employees.
- Practical experience using computerized maintenance management systems (SAP preferred).
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence.
- Strong understanding of Mine Health & Safety legislation and Zero Harm principles.
Experience
Applicants should have:
- 7–10 years of experience in Engineering Services maintenance within mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Practical experience in at least two or more of the following:
- Water supply systems
- Sewer systems
- Pumps
- Water treatment plants

About North Mara Gold Mine
North Mara Gold Mine is located in Tarime District, Mara Region, approximately:
- 100 km east of Lake Victoria
- 20 km south of the Kenya border
The operation consists of:
- Gokona Underground Mine
- Nyabirama Open Pit Mine
The processing plant has the capacity to process approximately 8,000 tonnes of ore per day.
