Job Purpose

The Gardener will be responsible for maintaining the beauty, cleanliness, and health of landscaped areas across both residential and office premises. The role aims to enhance the environment by ensuring outdoor spaces reflect the dignity of the residence and the professionalism of the workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Grounds

• Maintain flower beds, shrubs, lawns, and ornamental plants with care and precision.
• Ensure walkways, patios, and outdoor furniture are clean, tidy, and well-presented.
• Create seasonal garden displays and assist with outdoor décor for family events and special occasions.
• Monitor plant health and undertake routine maintenance activities.

Office Grounds

• Maintain corporate gardens and green spaces to uphold a professional appearance.
• Ensure entrances, pathways, and outdoor meeting areas remain clean, attractive, and free from debris.
• Support landscaping projects aimed at enhancing the property’s curb appeal.
• Maintain a welcoming outdoor environment for staff and visitors.

Equipment and Safety

• Operate and maintain gardening equipment, including:
  • Lawnmowers
  • Hedge trimmers
  • Pruners
  • Sprinklers
  • Other gardening tools
• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pest control treatments safely and responsibly.
• Adhere to workplace safety procedures, particularly when working near office facilities and sensitive infrastructure.
• Ensure gardening tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Planning and Coordination

• Recommend seasonal planting schedules and landscaping improvements.
• Assist in budgeting and planning for gardening supplies and maintenance requirements.
• Identify and report issues such as:
  • Irrigation system leaks
  • Plant diseases
  • Pest infestations
  • Landscape maintenance concerns
• Support continuous improvement of residential and office landscapes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience in residential and/or commercial gardening.
• Knowledge of local plants, flowers, trees, and climate-appropriate landscaping practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple premises.
• Basic understanding of:
  • Horticulture
  • Landscape design
  • Organic gardening treatments
  • Plant care and maintenance
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• High level of reliability, integrity, and discretion, particularly when working in residential environments.
• Ability to identify and address common gardening and landscaping issues.
