Job Purpose Statement

To originate, develop and manage client relationships through delivery of Foreign Exchange, Money Market, Fixed Income and approved Treasury solutions. The role is responsible for revenue generation, client acquisition, client retention, market intelligence and treasury advisory services while ensuring compliance with regulatory, risk and conduct requirements.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Financial – 60%

  • Implementation and execution of the laid down sales strategy that is coherent with the overall bank strategy within the approved risk appetite and portfolio standards.
  • Optimization of income through profitable sales of Foreign Exchange and other Global Markets products.
  • Ensure revenue growth for the bank through cross selling of other bank products to existing and new Global Markets clients.
  • Monitor and track business performance of existing relationships and reduce instances of leakages of business.
  • Use data analytics to assess portfolio health and forecast future growth.

Internal Business Processes – 10%

  • Grow the bank’s Global Markets FX portfolio by ensuring client retention and acquisition of new clientele.
  • Provide portfolio monthly performance reports to all stakeholders.
  • Management, development and growth of corporate client base and implementation of sales strategies to assist in achieving the bank’s target for the year.
  • Comply with requirements of all relevant risk management policies; the Bank’s Asset Liability Management Policy, Bank of Tanzania frameworks and guidelines, IFEM Code of Conduct and appropriate provisions of the Banking Act in respect of FX.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate and resolve risk and compliance matters.
  • Engage with all audit report findings relevant to Global Markets and close all findings in a timely manner.

Customer – 20%

  • Drive account planning and active management of new and existing clients in assigned portfolio to enhance wallet share.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with portfolio across all segment clients to ensure that the Bank is viewed as a perceived leader and active market player.
  • Manage quality of the bank’s product offerings by improving current products and developing new products to ensure the Bank’s dynamic responsiveness to the needs of targeted market segments.
  • Develop a thorough appreciation for each allocated customers’ business under the assigned portfolios, and understanding of their potential needs for Global Markets products, through regular liaison with the business RMs for each customer as well as through direct contact with the customer.
  • Prepare client meeting plans in coordination with the relationship managers and branches and submit call reports through designated systems.
  • Work closely with stakeholders in respective portfolios to drive strategic client agenda.
  • Maintain active communication with clients within respective portfolios and address their needs from a relationship management perspective.
  • Manage the bank’s Global Markets portfolio and ensure maximum returns from these relationships.
  • Organise networking events to foster close-knit relationships with both potential and existing clients.
  • Proactively engage importers and exporters on their trade flows, providing timely advice and competitive quotations to capture business opportunities, deepen relationships, and drive revenue growth.
  • Provide customers with timely, objective, and actionable market intelligence by analysing market trends, economic developments, and emerging opportunities, and communicating insights through research, bulletins, and direct client engagement.
  • Promote and drive increased customer adoption and usage of digital channels to improve service delivery, deepen customer relationships, and support business growth.

Learning and Growth – 10%

  • Actively pursue professional development opportunities to continuously enhance knowledge and expertise in Global Markets products, client advisory, market trends, and sales capabilities, while contributing to the sharing of market insights and best practices across the team.
  • Attend all scheduled trainings and complete all e-learning modules.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the Bank’s culture and values by delivering exceptional client service, fostering collaboration, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity within Global Markets.
  • Ensure that recommended hours of learning/training are achieved for both self and direct report through E-learning, Internal & External training activities.
  • Actively support talent development by enhancing personal competencies, sharing market knowledge and best practices, and contributing to the development of future Global Markets talent within the Bank.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, treasury products, macroeconomics, and corporate, retail and SME banking.

Preferred Professional Qualifications

  • ACI Dealing Certificate or ACI Financial Markets Certification

Desired Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Global Markets Sales, Treasury Sales, Foreign Exchange Sales, Corporate Banking, Treasury, or Financial Markets.
  • Demonstrated experience in marketing and selling FX, Money Market, Fixed Income, and other Treasury products to corporate, institutional, retail and SME clients.
  • Proven track record in revenue generation, client acquisition, relationship management, and portfolio growth.
