ESAMI is seeking suitably qualified candidates to fill two (2) Graduate Internship positions within the Directorate of Research and Management Consultancy.

About the Directorate of Research and Management Consultancy

The Directorate of Research and Management Consultancy (DRMC) works across six research thematic areas, bringing together policymakers, researchers, academics, and captains of industry.

Partnerships with global think tanks, universities, research institutes, governments, and development partners inform the Directorate’s ecosystem-focused approach. DRMC hosts webinars, public lectures, scientific research and grant-writing workshops, and the ESAMI Global Research Colloquium.

The Directorate addresses complex challenges faced by governments, development partners, and the corporate world. It offers the Certified Consultant Programme and Professional CEO Programme, facilitates Cabinet and Board Retreats, provides Board Mentorship Programmes, and works with policy architects to contribute to future-focused development.

DRMC operates at the ecosystem level, driven by a commitment to research excellence and distinctiveness.

Position Summary

DRMC offers graduate-level interns an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across its research and consultancy service lines.

The Graduate Interns will gain real-world exposure to how ESAMI operates across different geographies, sectors, industries, and disciplines. To support its growing portfolio, DRMC is seeking two (2) proactive, dynamic, data-centric, analytical, and results-oriented Graduate Interns.

Successful candidates should demonstrate a strong passion for and understanding of consultancy and/or research.

Working with established researchers and experienced consultants from various disciplines, the Graduate Interns will gain practical exposure to how models are applied to solve business problems, generate new knowledge through continuous inquiry, challenge existing assumptions, and contribute to innovation.

The interns will work in a highly demanding and time-sensitive environment and will be expected to remain results-oriented while effectively managing internal and external communication.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Graduate Interns will be responsible for:

  1. Researching and identifying potential consultancy assignments and research opportunities.
  2. Documenting, organizing, and regularly updating ESAMI’s consultancy and research experience.
  3. Managing databases for consultants and researchers and conducting preliminary fitness-for-purpose matching of team members earmarked for assignments.
  4. Managing the pipeline of research and consultancy assignments.
  5. Providing analytics-based reports for the Directorate of Research and Management Consultancy.
  6. Reviewing CVs for consultants, faculty, and researchers and aligning them with applicable compliance thresholds.
  7. Managing the DRMC statistical database.
  8. Providing administrative support to post-doctoral fellows, researchers, consultants, and administrators.
  9. Preparing consultancy and research reports, proposals, and presentations.
  10. Managing databases for ongoing projects and reporting on their status.
  11. Supporting the planning and coordination of workshops, public lectures, webinars, research colloquia, and other DRMC-related events.
  12. Assisting with general administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations of the Directorate.
  13. Performing any other duties as required by the Directorate to ensure smooth operations.

Academic and Other Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A Master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Data Science, Research, or a related field.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Commerce, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Only candidates with First Class and Upper Second Class Honours at Bachelor’s degree level will be considered.
  • Membership in a professional body, in good standing.
  • At least one (1) year of working experience.
  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in a consultancy firm, research institution, or project management environment will be an added advantage.
