Hand in Hand Eastern Africa – Tanzania (HIHEA TZ) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania since 2018 and part of the Hand in Hand Global Network.
The organization’s vision is to empower communities, especially women, through the creation of sustainable enterprises and employment opportunities.
HIHEA TZ works with marginalized communities through economic and social empowerment programs using a participatory approach that helps individuals overcome poverty and vulnerability.
The organization currently operates through seven branches located in:
- Moshi
- Arusha
- Manyara
- Singida
- Dodoma
- Meatu (Simiyu)
- Iringa
Job Purpose
The Business Relationship Trainee will support the implementation of HIHEA TZ program activities within assigned communities while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
The role focuses on community mobilization, enterprise development, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and supporting beneficiaries to establish sustainable economic activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Create awareness of HIHEA TZ programs and activities through community outreach and promotion.
- Identify, select, and recruit potential groups and members according to organizational guidelines.
- Mobilize, form, and support community groups to ensure sustainability and cohesion.
- Facilitate group/member selection, formation, and management.
- Prepare and submit daily, monthly, semi-annual, and annual reports on time.
- Collaborate with government agencies and local NGOs in consultation with the Branch Manager.
- Represent HIHEA TZ in assigned areas, including local development committees and stakeholder forums.
- Support monitoring and evaluation activities through:
- Data collection
- Documentation of case studies
- Sharing lessons learned
- Adoption of best practices
- Build and maintain effective relationships with:
- Beneficiaries
- Community members
- Partners
- Service providers
- Government agencies
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and maintain quality standards.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing systems for all activities.
- Ensure assigned HIHEA TZ assets, including equipment and motorcycles, are properly maintained.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Diploma or higher qualification in any of the following fields:
- Community Development
- Social Sciences
- Agribusiness
- Cooperative Management
- Microfinance
- Marketing
- Business Management
- Business Administration
- Commerce
- Related fields
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in community practice, social development, or social enterprises.
- Strong understanding of peri-rural development and financing.
- Passion for working with marginalized rural and peri-urban communities.
- High integrity, positive attitude, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Good interpersonal, public relations, and community mobilization skills.
- Ability to build and maintain constructive relationships and networks.
- Computer literacy; knowledge of MS Office applications is an added advantage.
- Self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Good communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
- Willingness to work in any region of Tanzania according to organizational needs.
- Licensed and experienced motorcycle riders are encouraged to apply.
