About the Site
The Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is located in north-west Tanzania, approximately 55 km south of Lake Victoria. The mine produces gold, silver, and copper and has been operational since 2001.
Position Overview
The HD Mechanic will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on heavy-duty mining equipment to ensure maximum availability, efficiency, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on plant and mobile equipment
- Conduct troubleshooting, fault-finding, and corrective maintenance
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability
- Follow maintenance procedures and job instructions accurately
- Conduct planned maintenance (PM) inspections
- Perform equipment upgrades and modifications where required
- Remove and replace machine components as needed
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and servicing activities
- Provide timely feedback to supervisors on equipment conditions
- Follow up on outstanding maintenance tasks
- Complete shift handover reports effectively
- Participate in training and development activities
- Mentor and support less experienced team members
Qualifications
- Ordinary Secondary Education (Form IV)
- Trade Certification (FTC, IMTT, or VETA) in Mechanical/Fitting
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence (mandatory)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with heavy-duty mining equipment
- Experience with Sandvik mechanized mining equipment
- Exposure to automation in underground mining equipment is an added advantage
Skills and Competencies
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Good record-keeping and reporting skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Effective communication skills in English and Kiswahili
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
