Job Summary
Turkys Mifuko Company Ltd, a leading non-woven bag manufacturer based in Zanzibar, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Head of Inventory to oversee the entire inventory management function—from raw material receipt to finished goods dispatch.
This role requires a highly organized and controls-focused professional capable of managing inventory across multiple categories, implementing strong warehouse procedures, ensuring stock accuracy, and leading a team of inventory supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Management
- Manage all inventory categories, including:
- Raw Materials (PP, Filler, Masterbatch)
- Spares & Consumables
- Work-in-Progress (WIP)
- Finished Goods
- Enforce inventory receiving, issuing, and stock-count procedures across all warehouses.
- Conduct routine stock counts and reconcile physical inventory with system records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
- Monitor minimum stock levels and reorder points to prevent production interruptions.
Procurement Support & Coordination
- Raise purchase requisitions based on inventory levels and production needs.
- Coordinate with the General Manager and RD on raw material purchasing approvals.
- Ensure all incoming goods are properly inspected, documented, and matched against purchase orders.
- Support supplier evaluation, due diligence, and selection processes when required.
Dispatch & Outbound Logistics
- Oversee dispatch operations to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Verify that finished goods are dispatched only against approved customer orders.
- Coordinate with the sales team regarding delivery schedules and stock availability.
Controls & Reporting
- Implement strong segregation of duties throughout the inventory cycle.
- Ensure independent verification within procurement and inventory processes.
- Prepare:
- Daily Inventory Reports
- Weekly Inventory Reports
- Monthly Inventory Reports
- Conduct stock movement analysis, inventory variance reviews, and stock ageing assessments.
- Report inventory risks, slow-moving items, and stock health indicators to management.
Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise:
- RM Supervisor
- Spares & Consumables Supervisor
- Finished Goods Supervisor
- Dispatch Personnel
- Establish and monitor Key Result Areas (KRAs) and KPIs.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and coaching sessions.
- Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, compliance, and operational discipline.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in:
- Supply Chain Management
- Logistics Management
- Business Administration
- Or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in inventory, warehouse, or stock management.
- At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing:
- Raw Materials
- Spares & Consumables
- Finished Goods Inventory
- Strong knowledge of stock control procedures and inventory counting methods.
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel
- ERP Systems
- Inventory Reporting Tools
- Experience implementing SOPs, controls, and approval workflows.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian customs regulations and import documentation is an added advantage.
