Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: TZS 3,500,000 – 4,000,000 Gross per Month (Based on Experience)
Job Summary
Turkys Mifuko Company Ltd, a manufacturer of non-woven bags in Zanzibar, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee end-to-end factory operations. The factory operates an extrusion line and several bag-making machines producing rolls, D-Cut, W-Cut, laundry, and amenity bags.
The successful candidate will lead production operations, improve efficiency, control waste, maintain quality standards, and drive operational excellence across the factory.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Manage all production sections:
- Fabric Production (Extrusion & Slitting)
- Bag Conversion
- Paper Bags
- Printing
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders and inventory targets.
- Ensure production targets are achieved on schedule and within quality specifications.
- Monitor machine utilization and improve production efficiency.
- Coordinate raw material requirements with the inventory team to avoid production interruptions.
Quality & Waste Control
- Enforce quality standards throughout all production stages.
- Monitor extrusion yield, GSM accuracy, bag dimensions, and seal integrity.
- Analyze and reduce production waste.
- Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Production Data & Reporting
- Ensure accurate recording of:
- Roll production
- Bag production
- Extrusion logs
- Daily production summaries
- Analyze production data to identify efficiency gaps and performance issues.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports for management.
- Maintain and improve production KPI dashboards.
Process & Efficiency Improvement
- Improve production planning and workforce allocation.
- Optimize roll utilization across product categories.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and supervise production supervisors and machine operators.
- Monitor departmental KPIs and conduct performance reviews.
- Foster a culture of accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Identify training needs and support employee development.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with the maintenance team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Manufacturing Management
- Or a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a factory management or production leadership role.
- Experience in plastics, packaging, or non-woven manufacturing is an added advantage.
- Proven experience managing multi-section production operations.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Production planning
- Scheduling
- Capacity management
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with:
- ISO documentation
- SOP development
- Quality Management Systems
- Experience leading factory teams of 40+ employees.

- Extrusion Yield: ≥ 98%
- Bag-Making Yield: ≥ 95%
- Overall Material End-to-End Yield: ≥ 93%
- Production Output vs. Plan: ≥ 95% On-Time Fulfillment
- Continuous reduction in material waste.
- Improved machine utilization and reduced downtime.
- Accurate and timely production reporting.
- Operator performance against individual KPIs.
