Jackfruit Cafe is a garden café, coffee shop and all-day restaurant in Shanty Town, Moshi, operated by Laryan Company Limited. We serve a wide menu, pizza, pasta, burgers, sushi, salads, cakes and specialty coffee to Moshi residents, the local expatriate community and visitors to the Kilimanjaro region, and we are one of the highest-rated restaurants in town.

THE ROLE: Hot Kitchen Chef / Pastry Chef
We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a hands-on cooking position covering hot kitchen: you will work the hot line through service, hold the standard on everything you send out, and guide the junior staff working with you. We need someone familiar with pizza, burgers, main dishes and pasta.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work the hot line during service
- Take responsibility for your section, including prep and closedown
- Guide and support junior kitchen staff and kitchen assistants
- Run the kitchen during a shift when the Head Chef is off
- Keep consistency in recipes, portioning and plating
- Follow food safety, hygiene and storage procedures, including temperature and cleaning records
- Help with stock counts, order requests and controlling waste
- Contribute ideas for specials and new menu items
- Work with front of house to keep ticket times and service flow steady
REQUIRMENTS
- Minimum 5 years professional kitchen experience
- English at intermediate level or above
- Experience in high-end or fine dining restaurants
- Confident cooking pizza, burgers, main dishes and pasta
- Strong hot kitchen skills, able to hold a section through a busy service
- Ability to lead, comfortable directing junior staff and running a shift when needed
- Available for late shifts, finishing at 22:00, including weekends and public holidays
- Solid understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
PREFFERED
- Experience with a wood-fired pizza oven
- Formal culinary training or certification
SALARY: Competitive, negotiable depending on experience
