Job Profile

The Inventory Master Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining and managing master data on an ongoing basis to support the Purchasing and Inventory functions. The role ensures accurate, structured, and standardized data management in line with procurement strategy and service delivery requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Master Data Management

  • Maintain standardized naming conventions for master data in line with industry best practices.
  • Engage with subject matter experts (SMEs) to support commodity-based research for data structuring.
  • Create new Material IDs (MIDs) and manage requests for corrections or updates within agreed SLAs.
  • Ensure accurate classification and grouping of materials within the division catalogue.
  • Maintain integrity of master data parameters across systems.

System & Process Support

  • Support change management processes related to Master Data Management systems.
  • Provide user support and training on MID/SID processes and online systems.
  • Ensure optimization of Master Data Management (MDM) processes.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Conduct ongoing audits and reconciliation of inventory master data.
  • Identify and correct duplications, inconsistencies, and invalid data entries.
  • Maintain accuracy of SAP-related material planning parameters.
  • Ensure timely updates of transport rate factors and related data inputs.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop weekly reports on pending MID applications.
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting tools for master data tracking.
  • Provide data inputs to category leads for strategic decision-making.

Stakeholder Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with supply chain, IT, reliability, and technical teams.
  • Support procurement strategy development through data insights.
  • Drive system and process improvements within master data management.
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives across the organization.

Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to SHERQ policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work with large and complex datasets.
  • Good understanding of inventory and master data systems (SAP preferred).
  • Knowledge of engineering spares (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Problem-solving and process improvement mindset.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant 3-year Diploma or Degree in:
    • Procurement / Supply Chain Management
    • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (advantageous)
  • 3 years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • Experience working with inventory systems and master data environments.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering equipment and spares is an added advantage.
