About the Role

Lake Cement Ltd. is seeking a Legal & Compliance Officer to join its Head Office at ATC House, Posta, Dar es Salaam.

The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Managing Director and is responsible for safeguarding the company’s legal and regulatory compliance.

Key Skills and Expertise

Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
• Must be a graduate from the Law School of Tanzania.

Experience

• 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the cement, manufacturing, mining, or energy sector.

Communication

• Excellent written and spoken English and Swahili.

Regulatory Knowledge

• Knowledge of statutory, environmental, mining, safety, and labour requirements.

Contract Management

• Ability to draft, review, and monitor contractual obligations.

Integrity and Discretion

• Ability to handle confidential company information responsibly.

Attention to Detail

• Sound judgement, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and licences.
• Maintain the Legal & Regulatory Compliance Register and ensure timely renewal of permits.
• Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and contractual obligations.
• Ensure compliance relating to plant operations, mining, environmental matters, safety, and labour requirements.
• Track litigation, claims, and disputes in coordination with external advocates.
• Liaise with government and regulatory authorities.
• Support corporate governance, Board matters, and statutory records management.
