Job Summary

MoneyMax Microfinance is seeking a Loan Officer Supervisor responsible for managing the loan portfolio through loan assessment, approval processes, portfolio monitoring, and client relationship management.

The successful candidate will support loan production objectives, ensure compliance with lending policies, maintain portfolio quality, minimize financial and legal risks, and contribute to the growth of MoneyMax as a development financial institution serving communities in Arusha.

Important Eligibility Requirement

  • Be permanent residents of Arusha.
  • Provide two referees with permanent addresses in Arusha.

Key Responsibilities

Loan Management & Client Relations

  • Respond promptly and professionally to loan and technical assistance inquiries.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and provide information about:
    • Loans
    • Technical assistance
    • Other financial products and services
  • Conduct due diligence and detailed financial analysis of loan applications.
  • Prepare credit memorandums and loan recommendations according to established policies.
  • Coordinate loan closing processes, including:
    • Negotiating loan terms
    • Preparing commitment letters
    • Reviewing due diligence requirements
    • Verifying loan documentation
    • Coordinating loan disbursements

Credit Risk & Portfolio Management

  • Monitor borrower compliance with:
    • Loan agreements
    • Repayment obligations
    • Loan covenants
  • Analyze financial statements and borrower reports.
  • Conduct borrower site visits and collateral inspections when required.
  • Perform risk assessments according to MoneyMax lending policies.
  • Support portfolio quality through:
    • Payment collection
    • Deposit monitoring
    • Recovery activities
    • Minimizing loan losses

Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate borrower loan records and financial information.
  • Support:
    • Impact tracking
    • Portfolio reporting
    • Loan file audits
    • Internal and external reviews
  • Recommend improvements to lending policies.
  • Present portfolio performance reports to management.
  • Participate in Loan Committee meetings when required.
  • Prepare reports for the Managing Director.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

Develop and maintain relationships with:

  • Banks and credit unions
  • Government agencies
  • Foundations
  • Community organizations
  • Public and private sector partners

Other Duties

  • Attend meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences.
  • Continuously improve lending knowledge and professional skills.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Managing Director.

Signatory Authority

The Loan Officer Supervisor is authorized to:

  • Initiate and sign credit memorandums for approved loans.

Access Responsibilities

  • Electronic systems required for assigned duties

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Accountancy
    • Microfinance
    • Business Administration
      or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in:
    • Business
    • Finance
    • Banking
    • Lending
  • Proven ability in relationship development and client management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare:
    • Financial reports
    • Performance reports
    • Executive summaries
  • Computer literacy, including:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Financial software applications
  • Willingness to undergo:
    • Background checks
    • Credit checks
    • Police clearance verification
