Job Summary

CR-Consortium is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to support the implementation of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Uvinza–Musongati Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing crushing and screening equipment while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in equipment installation and commissioning activities.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance of crushers, screens, and conveyor systems.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose equipment faults and perform emergency repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with quality assurance and workplace safety standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A recognized technical training certificate or an equivalent qualification recognized in Tanzania.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in crusher and screen maintenance.
  • Good understanding of the operating principles and structures of:
    • Crushers
    • Screening equipment
    • Conveyor systems
  • Proficiency in welding and cutting (a welding certificate is an added advantage).
  • Ability to use maintenance and diagnostic tools, including:
    • Multimeter
    • Feeler gauge
    • Dial indicator
    • Infrared (IR) thermometer
    • Vibration meter
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Basic English communication skills sufficient for daily interaction with Chinese management and understanding equipment manuals.
  • Good knowledge of Tanzanian occupational health and safety regulations and site operational standards.
  • Strong safety awareness and a clean safety record with no major violations.
  • Physical fitness to perform demanding outdoor work, including shift work and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • No medical conditions that may affect heavy equipment operations (such as hypertension, heart disease, epilepsy, or color blindness).
  • Age between 25 and 45 years.
  • Good character with no criminal record.
