Role Purpose
The Financial Services Director will be responsible for building and scaling M-Pesa into Tanzania’s leading digital financial services platform by driving ecosystem growth, financial inclusion, innovation, and sustainable revenue generation through fintech solutions.
The role carries full responsibility for the growth, profitability, and market leadership of M-Pesa’s financial services business.
Key Accountabilities
1. FinTech Strategy & Growth
- Define and execute the Financial Services strategy.
- Own and manage the full Profit & Loss (P&L) of the business.
- Deliver scalable growth and profitability.
- Drive market leadership across:
- Payments
- Credit
- Savings
- Insurance
- Digital financial services
2. Ecosystem & Partnerships Leadership
- Build and scale strategic partnerships with:
- Banks
- Fintech companies
- Merchants
- Government institutions
- Position M-Pesa as the preferred digital payments and financial services platform in Tanzania.
3. Product Innovation & Customer Value
- Lead the development of innovative financial products.
- Drive customer adoption and engagement.
- Utilize data, technology, and digital channels to improve customer experience.
- Increase product usage and customer value.
4. Commercial & Distribution Excellence
- Drive revenue growth through:
- Optimized pricing strategies
- Merchant network expansion
- Agent network growth
- Omnichannel distribution
- Ensure strong market penetration across all customer segments.
5. Risk, Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with:
- AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations
- KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements
- Data privacy regulations
- Strengthen fraud prevention measures.
- Enhance system resilience and operational efficiency.
- Maintain high levels of customer trust.
6. Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and lead a high-performing M-Pesa organization.
- Develop fintech capabilities across teams.

Education
