About the Role
Knauf Gypsum Tanzania is seeking a qualified Maintenance Manager to join the team at the Mkuranga Plant.
The Maintenance Manager will ensure that all production equipment, machinery, and facilities are maintained safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This role supports smooth plant operations by reducing downtime, improving equipment performance, leading maintenance teams, planning preventive/corrective maintenance, managing budgets, and driving operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Strategy: Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance program for all plant machinery, production lines, utilities, and infrastructure.

Scheduling: Establish maintenance schedules that minimize production disruption and ensure peak equipment efficiency.

Team Leadership: Lead, manage, coach, and develop the maintenance team, including technicians, engineers, and support staff.

Equipment & Machinery Oversight: Oversee maintenance and repairs for critical production machinery, including crushers, mills, kilns, conveyors, mixers, and packaging equipment.

System Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning of electrical systems, compressed air systems, and hydraulic equipment.

Downtime & Reliability: Investigate breakdowns, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely repairs to prevent unplanned downtime.

Performance Improvement: Monitor equipment performance, efficiency, and energy consumption to identify and implement operational improvements.

Inventory & Safety: Maintain organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials; strictly comply with company safety guidelines and conduct regular plant inspections.

Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and technical documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Maintenance Engineering.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership/supervisory role.

Technical Skills:
-
Strong knowledge of mechanics, electromechanical systems, physics, and engineering principles.

Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and asset management.

Experience with plant equipment, facility systems, and contractor management.

Technical troubleshooting capabilities.

Proficiency in maintenance management software/systems.

Safety & Compliance: Good understanding of health and safety regulations.

Leadership: Excellent people management skills with a track record of coaching and developing teams.
