Job Purpose:
To oversee, supervise and coordinate the HR Transactions Services Unit to ensure staff Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, other HR transactions are operating efficiently and accurately while maintaining payroll standards and staff morale.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and the timely payments of salaries to all staff.
  • Monitor employment costs and payroll cost trends against budget and advise Management on any deviation.
  • Ensure payment of benefits as approved by Management (advances, loans processing, staff bonus, leave allowance etc.)
  • Support HR outsourced services on timely payment of various items including control number payments, medical and staff benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and statutory deductions are accurately and timely processed including Pension, PAYE, WCF, HESLB and others.
  • Process and pay all terminal benefits including one month salary in lieu of notice of termination, leave allowance, outstanding leave days etc.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as Internal and External Auditors, BOT, Finance, TRA, Pension authorities, Legal and Government agencies and other authorities.
  • Establish and supervise HR Transactions services unit and ensure compliance with processing HR Transactions including Payroll.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of payroll data and related system(s)
  • Ensure that staff loans and advances are accurately processed and deducted at source and reports are available when required.
  • Provide data, reports, and other information to internal and external auditors, close audit queries pertaining to HR Transactional Services.
  • Ensure monthly payroll and loans’ reconciliations are done accurately and on time.
  • Manage, lead, develop, and provide guidance on priorities, assignments and performance of HR Transactions team members.
  • Assess and monitor the training and development needs of direct reports.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Business understanding of commercial contextual payroll, compensation & employees’ benefits
  • Technical Proficiency in advanced excel, word, PowerPoint, payroll processing.
  • Behavioral Building positive working relationships, attention to details, communication, contributing to team success, decision-making, information monitoring, planning & organizing, quality orientations and ability to handle highly confidential staff data.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in business studies is an added advantage
  • Postgraduate education in Banking and/or Banking certification(s) is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the field of Payroll Administration, Compensation and Benefits.
