CRDB Bank is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Manager Impairment and Regulatory Reporting. The role is responsible for leading credit impairment management, IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) processes, and regulatory reporting while ensuring compliance with Bank of Tanzania (BoT) requirements and international financial reporting standards.

Job Purpose
The successful candidate will lead the development, governance, and delivery of:
- Credit impairment processes under IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL).
- Bank of Tanzania regulatory reporting.
- Credit risk analytics and reporting frameworks.
The role ensures accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to support:
- Regulatory compliance.
- Financial reporting.
- Effective credit risk management.
- Strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
IFRS 9 Impairment Management
- Lead the end-to-end IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss process, including:
- Credit staging.
- Provisioning.
- Impairment reporting.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS 9 and Bank of Tanzania credit risk guidelines.
- Oversee development, calibration, and validation of:
- Probability of Default (PD) models.
- Loss Given Default (LGD) models.
- Exposure at Default (EAD) models.
- Loss rate models.
- Monitor:
- Significant Increase in Credit Risk (SICR).
- Default definitions.
- Cure methodologies.
Credit Risk Analytics
- Incorporate forward-looking macroeconomic factors, including:
- GDP growth.
- Inflation.
- Exchange rates.
- Sector risks.
- Perform portfolio analysis covering:
- Segment-level impairment.
- Sector exposures.
- Non-performing loan (NPL) movements.
Regulatory Reporting
- Lead preparation and submission of regulatory reports to the Bank of Tanzania, including:
- Capital adequacy reports.
- Asset quality reports.
- Provisioning reports.
- Large exposure and concentration risk reports.
- Liquidity and balance sheet reports.
- Ensure alignment between IFRS 9 impairment results and BoT regulatory provisioning requirements.
- Interpret new BoT regulations and implement required reporting changes.
- Act as a key contact point for:
- Bank of Tanzania inspections.
- Regulatory reviews.
- External audits.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Establish strong control frameworks for impairment and regulatory reporting.
- Ensure compliance with:
- IFRS 9 standards.
- Bank of Tanzania regulations.
- Banking and Financial Institutions Act (BAFIA).
- Internal risk policies.
- Maintain:
- Model documentation.
- Methodologies.
- Process manuals.
Data Management & Systems Improvement
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data used for:
- Impairment models.
- Regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with:
- IT teams.
- Data teams.
- MIS teams.
- Support enhancement of:
- IFRS 9 systems.
- Regulatory reporting platforms.
- Drive automation to reduce manual processes and operational risks.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Collaborate with:
- Risk Management.
- Finance.
- Treasury.
- Credit teams.
- Business units.
- Provide impairment insights to senior committees, including:
- Capital Management Committee (CMC).
- Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO).
- Board Risk Committee.
- Lead and develop credit risk and reporting analysts.
- Promote strong risk culture and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should possess:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Finance
- Accounting
- Banking
- Economics
- Statistics
- Related fields
Added Advantage:
- Master’s Degree.
- Professional certifications such as:
- CPA(T)
- ACCA
- CFA
- FRM
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in banking, preferably within Tanzania or East Africa.
- Proven experience in:
- IFRS 9 impairment management.
- Expected Credit Loss (ECL) frameworks.
- Credit risk measurement.
- Bank of Tanzania regulatory reporting.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Candidates should have strong knowledge of:
- IFRS 9 impairment frameworks.
- Bank of Tanzania prudential regulations.
- Basel II/III principles.
- Credit risk modelling.
- Tanzanian macroeconomic and sector risk environment.
- Stress testing and ICAAP processes.
Technical expertise required:
- Advanced Excel.
- SQL.
- SAS.
- Python.
- Core banking systems.
- IFRS 9 engines.
- Regulatory reporting tools.
