Position 1
Reporting To Head of Transactional Banking
Responsible For Managing syndicated financing and lender coordination
Department Corporate & Institutional Banking
Location Dar es Salaam
Working Hours 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday – Friday) and 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Saturday), or according to branch working hours

1. Purpose of the Job

To lead the development, management, and optimization of transaction banking products and services, including cash management, payments, collections, and liquidity solutions. The role is responsible for driving revenue growth, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining full regulatory compliance.

The position supports the Bank’s Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) strategy through innovative and client-focused transaction solutions.


2. Principal Accountabilities

2.1 Deal Origination & Structuring

  • Support origination teams in identifying transactions suitable for syndication.
  • Structure financing solutions aligned with client requirements and the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Advise relationship managers and credit teams on optimal syndication strategies.
  • Participate in mandate negotiations and appointments as:
    • Lead Arranger
    • Mandated Lead Arranger (MLA)
    • Bookrunner
    • Facility Agent

2.2 Syndication Execution

  • Prepare syndication strategies, including hold levels and sell-down targets.
  • Develop:
    • Information Memorandum (IM)
    • Teaser materials
    • Lender presentations
  • Coordinate lender invitations, roadshows, and bank meetings.
  • Manage the book-building process and allocation of commitments.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with participating banks.

2.3 Distribution & Investor Management

  • Maintain relationships with:
    • Local, regional, and international banks
    • Development Finance Institutions (DFIs)
    • Institutional lenders
  • Market syndicated opportunities to potential participants.
  • Monitor market liquidity, pricing trends, and lender appetite.
  • Ensure successful sell-downs to achieve capital optimization objectives.

2.4 Documentation & Closing

  • Work closely with Legal, Credit, and Compliance teams on facility documentation.
  • Coordinate signing and financial close processes.
  • Ensure syndication terms align with approved credit structures.
  • Support appointment and transition to Facility/Agent Bank roles where applicable.

2.5 Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Monitor retained exposure against approved hold levels.
  • Execute secondary sell-downs where required.
  • Support portfolio diversification and limit management.
  • Provide market intelligence on syndicated loan performance.

2.6 Stakeholder Coordination

Act as a liaison between:

  • Relationship Management teams
  • Credit & Risk departments
  • Legal teams
  • Treasury department
  • Participating banks

Ensure effective communication throughout the transaction lifecycle.


3. Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Finance
    • Banking
    • Economics
    • Business Administration
    • Or a related field

Professional certifications are advantageous:

  • CFA
  • ACCA
  • MBA

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in:
    • Loan Syndications
    • Structured Finance
    • Project Finance
    • Corporate Banking

Additional Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of credit analysis and loan documentation.
  • Experience in product development and financial modelling.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex financial transactions.
