Job Summary
Super Group Africa is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the end-to-end operational performance of Betway Tanzania’s sports betting and casino business.
The successful candidate will manage daily operations, improve customer experience, ensure regulatory compliance, optimize payment processes, support retail and agent networks, and lead operational teams in a fast-moving, regulated, mobile-first gaming environment.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Operations Management
- Manage daily operational performance of Betway Tanzania’s sports betting and casino operations, including call centre and digital channels.
- Ensure digital platforms remain operational, compliant, and deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Handle escalations involving trading, payments, customer service, and platform issues.
- Coordinate with regional and global teams to resolve operational challenges.
- Monitor platform uptime, transaction flows, and payment processing performance across mobile money, banking, and cash channels.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) licence conditions, tax requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Maintain accurate operational records and support timely regulatory submissions.
- Work with Legal and Compliance teams to implement:
- Responsible gambling controls
- KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures
- AML (Anti-Money Laundering) processes
- Support licence renewals, audits, and regulatory inspections.
Retail and Agent Network Management
- Manage relationships with landlords, agents, and third-party operational partners.
- Improve operational cost efficiency, including staffing, security, and petty cash management.
Payments and Finance Coordination
- Manage relationships with payment service providers and mobile money partners.
- Ensure reliable deposit and withdrawal processes.
- Support:
- Fund repatriation
- Cash reconciliation
- Float management
- Partner with Finance teams on tax reporting, withholding tax processes, and cost control initiatives.
Customer Experience and Product Support
- Ensure customer service standards are maintained across call centre and digital platforms.
- Provide local market insights to product, marketing, and trading teams.
- Support sports and casino product improvements.
- Assist with sponsorship and marketing activation execution, including Simba SC-related activities.
People and Stakeholder Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the local operations team, including call centre employees.
- Coordinate between the Tanzania country team and East Hub leadership.
- Build strong relationships with:
- Regulators
- Payment partners
- Landlords
- Community stakeholders
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in operations management, preferably in:
- Sports betting
- Casino
- Digital platforms
- Regulated consumer-facing industries
- Strong understanding of retail and digital operations, including shop networks and contact centre management.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian gaming regulations, licensing requirements, and tax obligations.
- Experience managing payment processes, including:
- Mobile money transactions
- Banking channels
- Reconciliation processes
- Strong leadership experience managing frontline and supervisory teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Ability to manage relationships with regulators and external partners.
