Job Summary
Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a Security Officer responsible for ensuring the safety and security of company premises, employees, visitors, and assets. The role involves enforcing security procedures, monitoring security systems, managing access control, responding to incidents, and maintaining a secure working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas regularly to prevent and detect intrusion, vandalism, theft, and other security threats.
- Conduct security checks on personnel, vehicles, and packages entering and leaving company premises.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and other security systems to identify potential security breaches.
- Enforce company security policies, procedures, and access control measures.
- Provide security assistance and support to employees and visitors.
- Ensure all exits, doors, and windows are properly secured after operations.
- Investigate suspicious activities, individuals, and possessions.
- Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations.
- Apprehend and detain offenders according to legal procedures before the arrival of relevant authorities.
- Maintain accurate security incident records, including reports on theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Head of Department.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- Diploma or higher qualification.
- Proven security training from institutions such as:
- Military
- Police
- Prison services
- Militia
- Private security training institutions
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in industrial security.
- Knowledge of security challenges, regulations, legislation, and industry practices related to cement manufacturing.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of security systems and law enforcement practices.
- Understanding of physical security and risk management approaches.
- Ability to think strategically and assess security risks.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
