About the Role
The Partnerships and Investment Lead – Infrastructure and Critical Minerals will support the British High Commission’s Strategic Economic Growth Plan by promoting UK investment in Tanzania, particularly in:
- Critical Minerals
- Infrastructure
- Clean Energy
- Financial Services
The successful candidate will be part of the Sustainable Prosperity Team, reporting to the Economic Advisor, and will work closely with economic, political, and private sector colleagues to strengthen UK–Tanzania investment and trade relations.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Promotion
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of UK investment opportunities in Tanzania.
- Identify investment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
- Support investment transactions from opportunity identification through to deal completion.
- Promote UK investment in infrastructure, energy, critical minerals, and financial services.
- Support UK companies exploring business opportunities in Tanzania.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with:
- Government of Tanzania institutions
- UK businesses and investors
- International Finance Institutions (IFIs)
- Development Finance Institutions (DFIs)
- Private sector partners
- Maintain relationships with organizations involved in infrastructure financing and project development.
Critical Minerals & Infrastructure
- Support UK mining companies and investors.
- Facilitate investment in critical minerals projects.
- Support financing solutions including:
- UK Export Finance (UKEF)
- Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs)
- Project development initiatives.
Mutual Prosperity Partnership (MPP)
- Support implementation of the UK–Tanzania Mutual Prosperity Partnership.
- Coordinate six-monthly technical meetings.
- Support annual high-level dialogue between the High Commissioner and Tanzanian Ministers.
- Follow up on agreed actions and investment commitments.
Strategy & Policy
- Support delivery of the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
- Promote research and development (R&D) partnerships.
- Develop an understanding of UK trade, investment, development, and growth initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage multiple UK financing and investment instruments.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Business
- Economics
- Finance
- Management
- or another related field.
Experience
Candidates should have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
- the private sector (preferably an international company), and/or
- government supporting private sector investment.
- Experience in Tanzanian, East African, or international trade and investment.
- Experience building relationships with:
- Government institutions
- Private sector organizations
- International organizations
- Development Finance Institutions.
- Experience in:
- Infrastructure
- Energy
- Critical minerals
- Investment financing
- Deal structuring and transaction management.
