Job Description

Mogo Credit Tanzania is seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Payment Specialist to manage payment imports, payment allocation, reconciliations, disbursements and financial reporting. The successful candidate will ensure that customer payments are processed accurately and promptly, financial records are maintained properly, and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

1. Payment Imports

• Import payment statements from NMB Bank, Yas, M-Pesa and HaloPesa into the system every hour to ensure customer payments are reflected on time.

• Verify that every payment file is imported completely and accurately, without missing or duplicated transactions.

• Communicate promptly with payment service providers regarding service disruptions, delays or technical problems and follow up until resolution.

2. Payment Allocation and Verification

• Ensure every payment is allocated to the correct client and agreement.

• Investigate and resolve unidentified, unassigned or incorrectly allocated payments.

• Verify that physical or digital receipts match the exact amounts paid.

3. Reconciliation and Statements

• Reconcile all completed transactions and payments daily and monthly.

• Compile and prepare monthly payment statements.

• Identify, report and follow up on reconciliation discrepancies until they are resolved.

4. Disbursements and Budget Management

• Prepare budgets and request funds from the Finance Department.

• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly disbursements.

• Process pending payments securely after validating the corresponding receipts and approvals.

• Disburse payments for repossession costs as required by the Operations Department.

• Maintain complete records and supporting documentation for every disbursement.

5. Reporting

• Provide daily updates to the DC Admin Team Lead covering:

  • Payment files imported.

  • Payments allocated.

  • Outstanding unidentified payments.

  • Issues involving payment service providers.

• Submit monthly statements, reconciliations and disbursement summaries on time.

• Immediately report any risk of financial loss or suspected fraud.

6. Other Duties

– Perform other related duties as assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.

• At least one year of experience in payments, reconciliation, accounting or finance operations.

• Experience in microfinance or asset financing will be an added advantage.

• Good knowledge of banking and mobile money payment platforms, including NMB, M-Pesa, Yas and HaloPesa.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling numbers and financial records.

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or loan management system.

• Ability to meet hourly and daily deadlines.

• High levels of honesty, integrity and confidentiality when handling company funds and customer information.

• Clear communication skills in both Kiswahili and English.
