The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring a reliable, cost-effective, and quality-assured supply of vitamins, minerals, and specialty raw materials for Sanku’s premix blending operations across East Africa.
Key Responsibilities
The Procurement Specialist will:
- Lead global sourcing of vitamins, minerals, carriers, and specialty raw materials by identifying, qualifying, negotiating with, and managing strategic suppliers.
- Convert production forecasts into procurement plans to ensure timely replenishment, optimal inventory levels, and uninterrupted supply.
- Ensure incoming raw materials meet Sanku’s quality and regulatory standards through supplier qualification, technical documentation, laboratory verification, and food safety compliance.
- Negotiate supplier agreements and optimize total landed costs through market analysis, commercial negotiations, freight planning, and effective sourcing strategies.
- Coordinate international procurement activities, including supplier documentation, shipment readiness, and import compliance for deliveries into Tanzania and Ethiopia.
- Monitor supplier performance, market trends, pricing, and supply risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier information within ERP systems.
- Prepare procurement reports and performance analysis.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to resolve procurement issues and improve processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should have:
- At least 5 years of experience in international procurement of food-grade ingredients.
- Direct sourcing experience involving vitamins, minerals, carriers, or specialty raw materials.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Qualifications in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Nutrition will be an added advantage.
- Professional certification such as CIPS, CPSP, PSPTB, or another recognised procurement qualification is preferred.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Experience in supplier performance management, contract negotiation, and cost optimization.
- Strong understanding of international food safety, certification, and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of FSSC 22000, ISO, HACCP, Certificates of Analysis (CoA), and traceability standards.
- Experience working with food control and import regulatory authorities to ensure compliant sourcing.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across different cultures and time zones.
- Knowledge of Mandarin or Hindi is an added advantage.
