Position Purpose

The Program Manager will provide strategic leadership in the implementation and scaling of Food and Agriculture programs across Tanzania.

The role is responsible for mobilizing and supporting thousands of:

  • Smallholder farmers
  • Youth entrepreneurs
  • Women entrepreneurs
  • Agricultural MSMEs

through transformative interventions that promote:

The Program Manager will also serve as a key business pipeline builder for Equity Bank Tanzania by facilitating beneficiary acquisition and integration into sustainable agricultural value chains.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Program Leadership

  • Lead the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of large-scale agriculture and food systems programs.
  • Ensure alignment with Equity Bank Tanzania’s national and regional agriculture strategies.
  • Develop and implement scalable interventions that drive financial inclusion and agribusiness growth.

Beneficiary Mobilization and Recruitment

  • Mobilize and recruit target participants, including:
    • Smallholder farmers
    • Farmer groups
    • Cooperatives
    • Agricultural MSMEs
    • Youth and women entrepreneurs
  • Conduct sensitization and stakeholder engagement forums.

Financial Inclusion and Business Growth

  • Oversee enrollment of project beneficiaries into Equity Bank products and services.
  • Support achievement of project targets related to:
    • Savings accounts
    • Loans
    • Insurance products
    • Other financial services
  • Facilitate responsible utilization of financial products according to client needs.

Capacity Building and Training

Deliver and oversee advanced training programs covering:

  • Financial literacy and education
  • Agribusiness management
  • Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
  • Climate-smart agriculture
  • Biodiversity conservation
  • Agricultural mechanization
  • Digital agriculture technologies

Farmer and MSME Support

  • Improve participants’ technical, financial, and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching support.
  • Respond to beneficiary queries regarding:
    • Agribusiness opportunities
    • Agricultural production
    • Financial services
    • Market access

Project Coordination

  • Organize and coordinate:
    • Field days
    • Demonstration events
    • Exchange visits
    • Value chain meetings
    • Stakeholder forums
  • Ensure project activities are implemented according to approved plans and targets.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent Equity Bank Tanzania at agricultural forums and industry engagements.
  • Collaborate with:

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Work closely with Monitoring and Evaluation teams.
  • Ensure collection of quality project data.

    • Quarterly reports
    • Management updates

The role will contribute to:

  • Growth in agricultural loan portfolios.
  • Growth in agricultural deposits.

  • Expansion of grant funding opportunities and blended finance facilities.
  • Strategic partnership development.

The position oversees:

  • Up to 13 staff members

The Program Manager will have authority to:

  • Allocate regional budgets across interventions.
  • Authorize training schedules and demonstration activities.
  • Sign off monthly and quarterly reports submitted to management and M&E teams.

  • Extensive practical agricultural production experience.
  • Strong understanding of:
