Exim Bank Tanzania is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Relationship Manager – Commercial Banking within its Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Department.

Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (additional hours as required)

Job Purpose

The Relationship Manager – Commercial Banking is responsible for driving the growth of the Bank’s commercial banking portfolio by acquiring new clients, expanding existing relationships, and delivering tailored financial solutions. The role focuses on increasing assets, liabilities, and profitability while ensuring exceptional customer service, effective portfolio management, and compliance with the Bank’s credit, risk, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Acquisition

  • Identify and acquire new commercial banking clients in line with the Bank’s growth strategy.
  • Develop and implement client acquisition plans to expand the commercial banking portfolio.
  • Achieve assigned business targets for portfolio growth, revenue generation, and product penetration.
  • Promote and cross-sell commercial banking products, including loans, trade finance, deposits, cash management, and other financial solutions.
  • Grow high-quality assets and long-term liabilities to maximize profitability.

Relationship Management

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with commercial clients.
  • Conduct regular client visits and maintain an effective customer engagement program.
  • Deliver tailored financial solutions and competitive pricing that meet clients’ business needs.
  • Position Exim Bank as the preferred banking partner for commercial customers.

Portfolio & Risk Management

  • Monitor portfolio performance to maintain asset quality and minimize non-performing loans (NPLs).
  • Assess financial statements, prepare credit proposals, and evaluate client risk profiles.
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s credit policies and lending procedures.
  • Adhere to Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or professional qualifications such as CFA, ACCA, or CPA will be an added advantage.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in relationship management within a commercial or corporate banking environment.

Required Competencies

  • Strong business development and client acquisition skills.
  • Excellent credit analysis and financial statement interpretation skills.
  • Good knowledge of commercial banking products, including trade finance, working capital, term loans, deposits, and cash management.
  • Understanding of market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to tailor financial solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Fluency in both English and Swahili.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to support business development activities.
  • Experience in structured trade finance and project financing is an added advantage.
