Job Purpose

The Relationship Officer (Bancassurance) is responsible for driving the growth of life and general insurance products among bank and non-bank clients. Acting as a Branch Champion, the role focuses on boosting sales production, managing policy administration, conducting premium reconciliations, and delivering high-quality customer service and after-sales support.

Key Responsibilities & Weightings

  • Financial & Sales Performance (30%)
    • Drive sales of life and general insurance products by prospecting and closing deals.
    • Identify new business opportunities and manage client pipelines.
    • Ensure premium collection and account reconciliation across assigned branches.
    • Maintain daily tracking and regular reporting of sales figures.
  • Internal Business Processes (30%)
    • Process and book insurance policies accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Maintain up-to-date client files and documentation.
    • Facilitate and support claims processing and follow-ups.
    • Ensure timely submission of operational and sales reports.
  • Customer Service & Client Engagement (30%)
    • Provide after-sales support and ongoing insurance advisory services to clients.
    • Conduct client visits, consultations, and site assessments.
    • Support branch staff and lead monthly training sessions on insurance products.
  • Learning & Growth (10%)
    • Stay informed on product updates, market trends, and modern sales techniques.
    • Actively participate in professional development programs.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive workplace environment.

  • Internal Stakeholders: Branch Managers, Relationship Officers, Bancassurance Team
  • External Stakeholders: Insurance Clients, Underwriters, Claims Assessors

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or a related business field.
  • Professional Certifications: Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (COP).
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in banking, insurance, or related financial services.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with the Smart Policy System and MS Office Suite.
    • Strong understanding of banking and insurance products.
    • Competence in sales administration, client advisory, and policy processing.
    • Solid numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Strong verbal and written communication.
    • High attention to detail, integrity, and proactive initiative.
    • Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal and presentation abilities.
