Job Purpose
Based in Arusha, the Relationship Manager – Agriculture & Tourism originates, manages, and expands a customer portfolio across Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock, Hospitality, Tourism, Travel, and Conservation value chains. The role serves as the primary financial advisor to clients, driving business acquisition, deposit mobilization (CASA), lending growth, and non-funded income while expanding NCBA’s market presence across the Northern Zone (Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, and surrounding regions).
Key Responsibilities & Weightings

Financial Performance & Portfolio Growth (40%)

Achieve portfolio annual P&L and balance sheet targets.

Drive portfolio expansion in Agriculture and Tourism sectors.

Mobilize CASA deposits from target sector clients.
-
Grow funded and non-funded income by cross-selling Trade Finance, Treasury, Cash Management, and Digital Banking solutions.

Maintain portfolio quality within approved risk parameters.

Execute regional market penetration strategies across Northern Tanzania.

Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management (20%)

Build and maintain strategic relationships with corporates, SMEs, hotel/lodge operators, exporters, and cooperatives.

Identify sector opportunities and structure customized financial solutions to increase wallet share.

Execute customer acquisition, retention, and portfolio deepening plans.

Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and CRM records.

Internal Business Processes & Compliance (20%)

Adhere to internal bank policies, procedures, and service level agreements (100% SLA adherence).

Resolve audit findings within the quarter of identification with zero repeat findings.

Ensure fast turnaround times on credit applications and client requests.

Manage individual performance objectives and pursue continuous professional development.

Participate in coaching and technical training programs.

Internal Stakeholders: All Bank Departments

External Stakeholders: Agricultural producers/processors, tourism operators, commodity traders, hotel/lodge owners, industry associations, regulators, DFIs, and government agencies.
Key Mandates & Decision-Making Authority

Recommend sector-specific financing structures and credit facilities.

Recommend pricing within approved delegation levels.

Lead customer negotiations within authorized limits.

Escalate sector risks and portfolio performance opportunities.
Requirements & Qualifications
-
Academic: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized accredited university.

Experience:
-
At least 5 years of experience in Relationship Management, Corporate Banking, Agribusiness Banking, or Commercial Banking.

Hands-on experience managing clients in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Tourism, or Hospitality is highly desirable.

Strong track record of hitting portfolio growth targets.

Technical Skills:

In-depth understanding of agricultural value chains, seasonal business cycles, export markets, and commodity financing.

Deep knowledge of tourism operating models (hotels, lodges, tour operators).

Expertise in structured lending solutions, risk assessment, and sustainability/climate considerations.

Sound understanding of commercial banking operations, products, and regulatory frameworks.
