Restaurant Supervisor
Location: Moshi, Kilimanjaro
ABOUT COMPANY
Laryan is a hospitality company operating restaurants and cafes in Moshi, including Jackfruit Cafe and Tausi Restaurant. We believe good service comes from well-trained, well-supported teams, and we invest in staff who take pride in their work and want to grow with the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervising the dining area during service and maintaining a visible presence on the floor
- Greeting and seating guests, managing reservations, waiting lists and guest flow
- Assigning sections, stations and daily duties to service staff
- Supervising waiters, hosts and bar service staff during each shift
- Maintaining service standards, table turnaround times and overall guest experience
- Handling customer feedback, complaints and special requests professionally
- Conducting pre-shift briefings and daily shift handovers
- Overseeing opening and closing procedures for the dining area
- Managing POS operations, order accuracy, billing and cash handling during shifts
- Coordinating with the kitchen on order timing, daily specials and out-of-stock items
- Maintaining cleanliness, table settings, ambience and presentation standards of the dining area
- Monitoring service supplies such as cutlery, glassware, linen and menus
- Enforcing hygiene, grooming, health and safety standards among service staff
- Training and coaching service staff on menu knowledge, upselling and service etiquette
- Preparing daily shift reports on sales, covers and service issues for management
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Certificate or Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Service or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in restaurant, hotel or other high-volume food service operations
- Experience as a manager, head waiter, team leader or in a similar supervisory role
- Practical experience with POS systems, billing and cash handling
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
- Solid menu, beverage and service etiquette knowledge
- Good understanding of hygiene, food safety and health and safety standards
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Fluency in Kiswahili and English
- Smart, professional appearance and a calm manner under pressure
- High level of integrity, accountability and reliability
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate will be expected to own the dining floor, lead the service team shift by shift, resolve guest issues on the spot, and deliver a consistent, welcoming experience every day.
