🔍 Job Overview: Safety Officer (2 Positions)

Purpose of the Role:
Ensure workplace safety by planning, implementing, and monitoring Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) systems, while promoting a strong safety culture aligned with Barrick’s “Zero Harm” philosophy.
🧭 Key Responsibilities
You’ll be both a compliance officer and safety culture champion:
🛡️ Safety Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian OHS laws
- Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Monitor incident investigations and corrective actions
- Maintain Management of Change (MOC) records
📊 Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual safety reports
- Track safety performance and compliance metrics
👥 Training & Culture Building
- Train staff on SOPs and safe work practices
- Lead safety meetings
- Support Safety Representatives
- Promote a positive safety culture
🚨 Incident & Risk Management
- Investigate accidents and incidents
- Conduct Critical Control Verifications (CCVs)
- Identify hazards and implement controls
🎓 Qualifications Required
Minimum requirements:
- NOSHC I & II (National Occupational Safety & Health Certification)
- Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (or higher)
- Certificate IV in Training & Workplace Assessment
- Level 3 First Aid Training
- Incident & Accident Investigation certification
- Valid Driving License
Added Advantage:
- Emergency Response Management certification
💼 Experience Required
- 2–3 years in safety roles within:
- Mining
- Construction
- Processing
- Maintenance
- Underground mining experience = bonus
🧠 Key Skills & Competencies
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
- Emergency Rescue Operations
- Strong communication (English & Swahili)
- Knowledge of Tanzanian OHS laws
- Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
