SAFETY OFFICER JOB VACANCY

ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time, on-site role responsible for ensuring that workplace safety standards are met and that employees comply with health and safety regulations. The role involves conducting regular safety inspections and investigating workplace accidents or incidents.
The Safety Officer will identify hazards, implement safety policies, and promote a strong safety culture within the organization. The role also includes overseeing security measures to safeguard employees and company assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with local safety laws and regulations
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare reports
- Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees
- Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans
- Work with management to improve safety performance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field from an accredited institution
- Certification in health and safety (e.g., OSHA or equivalent)
- At least 2+ years of proven experience in a safety-related role
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk management practices
- Good communication and training skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Analytical thinking ability
- Leadership and communication skills
- Ability to enforce safety standards
- Report writing and documentation skills
- Willingness and ability to travel outside Dar es Salaam region
- Previous on-site safety management experience is an added advantage
