Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this position is to support the internal audit function by:
- Providing risk-based assurance
- Strengthening internal controls
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Protecting organizational value
Key Responsibilities
Audit Execution
- Conduct risk-based audits in regional and field offices
- Test systems, controls, and compliance frameworks
- Carry out physical asset and inventory verification
Reporting
- Prepare audit working papers and reports
- Submit periodic audit progress reports
- Document findings and recommendations
Risk and Advisory Work
- Participate in investigations and special assignments
- Identify risks and propose corrective actions
- Support audit planning activities
Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct entry and exit meetings with auditees
- Agree on findings, root causes, and action plans
Safeguarding
- Promote safeguarding policies and standards
- Report and escalate safeguarding incidents
- Support a safe working environment
Education and Experience Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Auditing
- Business Administration
- Risk Management
- Compliance
- Project Management or related field
Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in internal auditing
- Preferably in NGO or donor-funded environments
Professional Certifications (Added Advantage)
- CIA
- CPA
- ACCA
Required Competencies
- Knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, and regulations
- Strong understanding of donor-funded project compliance
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Strong integrity and independent judgment
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to analyze large datasets and prepare reports
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- Understanding of internal control systems and risk-based auditing
