About the Position

Sandvik Rock Processing is seeking a Service Technician – Crushing Solutions to join its team in Solwezi, Zambia.

The role will be based from Sandvik’s offices in Solwezi, Zambia.

Purpose of the Role

As part of the Service Team, the Service Technician will provide aftermarket maintenance and quality support for Sandvik Rock Processing equipment and components at Sandvik facilities and customer sites.

The role will also provide hands-on technical support and service for crushing equipment and aftermarket parts to Crushing Solutions customers in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide customer training and efficient technical service support relating to all Sandvik crushers supplied to customers within Zambia.
• Perform mechanical and process maintenance at customer mine sites in Zambia, predominantly in the Northwest Zambia and Copperbelt regions. Other areas may be assigned based on customer requirements.
• Identify, report and resolve technical issues safely and efficiently.
• Carry out installation and commissioning of new Sandvik equipment.
• Follow on-site leadership direction and work independently when required.
• Attend training and meetings and be available for after-hours callouts.
• Work closely with customers’ installation and erection teams during the installation and commissioning of Sandvik crushers when required.
• Guide and assist customers’ maintenance teams with fault diagnosis on Sandvik crushers.
• Work with customers’ maintenance teams to perform repairs and fault finding using a hands-on approach.
• Cooperate closely with the sales team or directly with customers to promote Crushing Solutions equipment and aftermarket sales.
• Support parts lists and parts planning.
• Provide relevant feedback through equipment condition, performance and process audits to support improvements in maintenance planning, efficiency and equipment integrity.
• Identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with customers and other persons who can provide insight into service requirements.
• Provide product service and equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as required.
• Work towards achieving established KPIs for both customers and Sandvik.
• Accept and perform tasks delegated by Rock Processing Management as deemed necessary.
• Ensure all Sandvik policies and procedures, particularly health, safety and environmental policies, are adhered to by the team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified Mechanical Technician, Fitter, Boilermaker or Diesel Mechanic.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
• Experience servicing mineral processing and fixed-plant equipment in the mining industry.
• Experience with fixed-plant crushing and screening is highly regarded.
• Strong technical skills in:
  • Crushing and screening preventive maintenance and service repairs
  • Hydraulic repair
  • Automation setup, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Fault finding
  • Problem solving
• Knowledge of crushing and screening operations in both surface and underground operations.

Other Requirements and Competencies

• Valid passport.
• Willingness and ability to travel without restrictions within the Central African Territory at relatively short notice and according to customer or Sandvik requirements.
• Relevant driver’s licence accepted in Zambia.
